Old or Unusual Photos

A 1973 Chevrolet Nova... I had one exactly like this... my first car.

Finally pulled some war pics off PB and started an Imgur account. I don't have this one labeled. He's family but not exactly sure who. Based on uniform I'm guessing WWI.

The guy on the left, Bud, would have been my grandpa I guess. My grandmothers fiance at the start of WWII. He was KIA in Luxembourg just after the official end of the Battle of the Bulge.

The tunnel that goes under the mill where they use to unload the cotton is still whole. We had to go in there to trace something (I can't remember what now), man talk about creepy. Those guys would unload it and transport it basically in the pitch black.
Have you checked out the old pictures at town hall?

My brother brought back a handful of dusty negatives from an abandoned air base in Iraq. His guys were the first Americans there during the invasion.
All of them are of this destroyed Cayuse-like chopper. He believes they are from after the first Gulf War.

Losses for the Iraqi air force list a lone observation helicopter being shot down back then.

Also have what appears to be negatives of Iraqi prisoners, mugshot style. No one I've asked will try to develop them because of their condition.

Try scanning the negatives and see if they show up. I have a box of thousands of old negatives I saved from my grandparents house. They were being thrown out and no telling what may be in them.

Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner. Need to find the negatives again too.

Anybody got info on this flag? Wife’s uncle was in the Air Force pre Korean War. Flag says “Honor Flight 3722” dated 1-5-1950. Says they win it.

I was already to take a picture of an old appendage then thought better of it. Old pics? Gonna have to go pull out Dad's slides from the old days. I'll see if he has them transferred electronically yet. There should be some bad clothes, hair and maybe some ugly cars. We were pretty poor.

The 3722nd was a USAF Basic Military Training (BMT) Squadron at Lackland AFB, Texas. Each Squadron had a competition for one Flight to be named Honor Flight, usually resulting in a weekend pass if you won; pissed off TIs if you didn't.

Thanks! Figured it was a comp like that but not sure. I'll let her know.

I need to find my mom's 5th grade class pic. There is an 18 yo guy sitting in the back row. Yes he was a student. He also smoked with teachers during recess. lol

A recent thread about Arizona reminded me I had this picture sitting around somewhere in the basement. Back in about 94, the family took a trip out to Arizona and we took a horseback tour through some canyons. At the end of the trip, the guide had some small steel targets sitting out in the desert and let my brother and I shoot his pistola.

That was my first time shooting a powder burning gun of any sort. I was immediately hooked.

Check out those husky jeans. I think I might even see a tag left on them.

Ruger Single Six maybe? Not sure.
