I recently found myself lacking a single stack carry option.

My LCP covered pocket duty.

My SR9c covered compact double stack duty. Usually worn OWB in kydex of my own doing or one of Chiefjason's hybrids.

I had previously owned an LC9 and sold it several years ago as I just didn't carry it as much at that time. I then carried a Shield for awhile but the trigger was not as nice as my SR9C and I traded it away.

Lately I found myself wanting something I could throw AIWB that gave me more firepower than my LCP so it hit the LGS the other day to examine my options.

I really went in with the intent of buying an LC9s. I'd shot a friend's some time ago and liked the trigger. The price on the LC9s was well above what I could order online and pay a transfer fee on though.

While I was there I tested the triggers on the LC9s, a Shield, a G43, and an XDS. Of the four examples the Shield won hands down for me. The LC9 was light but squishy feeling. The G43 had too much of a stack at the end, and the XDS was just bad.

So out the door I walked a Shield owner again. It was used, but just barely and I got all the original box and stuff plus an extra 8 round mag (3 total) for just under 300 cash OTD. The trigger on this example is much better than the one I had earlier to the point that I thought it may have had some aftermarket internals. I dryfired it in the shop side by side with a new one though and they felt the same.

It is tucked AIWB right now in kydex with a CompTac clip.

I like these. The capture the belt nicely and have a bit wider footprint than many IWB clips. Makes for a more stable holster in my experience.

In all seriousness, when I carry a smallish auto, it's a Walther CCP, in either a leather "Summer Special" type IWB, or in a Yaqui Slide OWB.

Oddly enough, I only have 5 single stacks, (two .45s and three 9mm); The .45s are a 1911 Ruger Night Watchman & a S&W 4566.

All three of the 9mms are Walthers, a CCP, PPS M1 and my all time favorite single stack 9mm, the Walther P5.

My G43 for typical day to day carry. In dress pants with no coat I take my Smith 442 with a Desantis pocket holster.

My Shield that I bought when they were first released. I just can’t part with it for some reason. I carry it in a Concealment Commander IWB holster

Nice. I've carried my Shield for 3+ years now and like it a lot. I still have the mag carrier you made for it.

Tre-9,,,wonder if anyone knows what I'm talking about. I got one in a trade a couple years ago and I haven't had any reason to look anything else,

I bought a Shield shortly after they came out and carried it for a few years. Then I sold the Shield and tried other guns. After going through a bunch of alternatives, I'm back to the Shield.

Since we are limiting ourselves to carry only, I'm doing with an XDs. I've carried a full size 1911 which I would prefer but for me that isn't always an option. The XDs does almost everything I need it to.

Don't own any single-stacks right now, but I will eventually pick up some Glock 43s or Kahr CM9s. I've owned both in the past, and enjoyed both (though Kahr, in my experience, has some QC issues).

Depends on the day.

Glock 42 or 43
Pm9
Shield 40
Xds 9
