I found a place that has a good amount of this old surplus stuff. Guy was asking $10 per 20. Is this good? I've seen some places asking $15 a box, but solid numbers on it has been difficult and I'm ignorant of the topic.

Would I sell it for that if someone wanted it, yes.

Would I pay that for it. Not a chance. I've seen folks ask a dollar a round for it. Some will say it's steel core. Some won't. I've got a bunch but to me having a couple boxes to say I had them would be ok. Otherwise, I'd just buy Russian stuff Alex

Do you have pics and/or info of the box (does it say "steel core" or "steel case" on it?) and the headstamp(s)?

And the guy was asking you say, so maybe he's flexible a bit on the price. The above details would be helpful.

No, no pictures. Was at a hardware store on the Main Street in Elkin.

Gotcha. Steel core would/does fetch a premium, and if the ammo has been properly stored, I'd consider haggling a bit on his asking price if it is in fact steel core.

It looked like it was the exact type the internet hype is about, and by the looks of this shop I would bet the guy had ordered a ton of it 20-30 years ago. Most everything was dusty and hadn't been handled in a while. Some may have still been in sealed wooden crates.

Interesting. You may be onto something good!

Yeah, I see that. Especially with sales of Golden Tiger coming in at times for less than $200 for 1k

I've tried to sell steel core a dozen times,, I think the best I ever got was .35 a rd. Plus I've seen over the years box color and head stamps are not always a true detector when it comes to steel

Last year I sold 200 rounds for a $1.00 per round . Mine is the copper washed stuff that was imported about 20 years ago. drills right threw 1/4 inch steel. I had 2 cases of 1200 rounds each .This is my shtf ammo. I bought it along with my side folder Poly-tech AK

not with Tula being .20 a round (and GT as well if you order in bulk). Chi-Com was cool 20 years ago.

He has some nice stuff but its retail plus.......

Galil or Bake
Mike I don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. It's stamped on side Poly-Tech .Beijing ,China the folding stock is made of round steel not flat metal like the underfolder models. Knife Blade type bayonet with scabbard was included. This was bought in the middle to late 1980's .Can't remember exactly , but I think it was around 1986 or 87
