Help with aquiring awards and documents for relatives.

So I have looked online everywhere and I believe I have seen a thread here on the topic but I’m still confused and could use guidance. I am looking to obtain the following for relatives of mine that have passed away.

1. Father( Late 60s,Early 70s - Navy)
Looking to get his awards and any documentation possible. I have his SSN which I believe is all I need and his name.

2. Maternal Grandfather(WWII - Army)
I have the awards and uniform pieces from my grandpa on my moms side. I am looking for documents. I also have his dog tags which have his service number on them which I assume is good to use

3. Paternal Grandfather(WWII - Navy)
I have his name and that’s about it. Would like his awards and documents as well.

I have read online that a fire destroyed a lot of information. Would the time periods my family has served during be effected by this? I assume it would.

The Army and AF were affected by the fire, destroyed 75%-80% of the records from 1912-1960 and 1947-1964 respectfully.
