Would this ancient Indian Wolf Trap be legal for 'yotes?

In one of James Willard Schultz' books, he describes a wolf trap that he used when he grew up among the Blackfoot tribes. It is simply a small rectangular log cabin, built such that each log is set a little to the inside of the one below, so that the structure becomes like a pyramid. The top is open, and bait is placed inside. The wolves and coyotes climb the walls like stairs, jump down, then cannot get out.

Would the king allow this method of taking in NC? ???
 
I'm no coyote expert but I think you'd be catching raccoons and not coyotes with that kind of trap.
 
Foxes too, my grandad used to bury a section of chimney pipe vertically with post hole diggers and drop something meaty down. Used to catch foxes as they would go in and couldn't back out or turn around. Dont know the legality of his trap or the Indian design though.
