Wife and I returned from our trip to Las Vegas. I really wasn't sure of the appeal before we went, however I am surprised how much I enjoyed the trip.
Las Vegas is a interesting place, if you haven't gone, you should. Food and drink was incredible and there's plenty to do besides the casino and gambling.
Spent a good bit of time just walking around and people watching. Sat in some of the casino bars and talked to interesting people.

Red Rock Canyon is about 20 minutes outside of Las Vegas and feels like you are in the middle of nowhere.

Perhaps one of, if not the best steaks I've ever eaten.

Drove up to Mt Charleston to see the Silent Heros of the Cold War Memorial

All in all a very good trip... deciding when to go back.

I don't have the disposable income I require to enjoy Vegas anymore...

I lost more in the restaurants and bars than I did gambling, we stayed away from the tables and burned about $40 on slots.

FYI. There was about $1.5M of submersible pump cables installed to make those Bellagio fountains work . But I have to say, I don't miss going to Vegas, and either does my liver.

The show was worth seeing, seeing those guys out there at 6am every day doing the maintenance was more entertaining.

If my memory is correct it used to cost about $20k every time they reprogram the music and water show. The same people that did the water effects for the movie Waterworld did the original install and set up. I have had many a drink on the Bellagio patio watching that show. Cool stuff.

If you go to Vegas you must go to Freemont Street. Freak Show!

You can have Vegas. I've been and could care less for the city. The surrounding countryside is nice though.

Went at age 18, but you had to be 21 to gamble, so it really meant little to me.
Not a big gambler (done it once in my 35 years), so it doesnt have a ton of appeal to me.
But everyone talks of the good times they have there, so maybe one day I'll check it out

I used to go often. Had cash to burn back then. We never spent much in bars and restaurants. Usually that stuff was comp'ed like our rooms. It's not like it used to be. Last time I was there it was like pulling teeth to get a buffet comp... Plus all my favorite places are gone... It's too corporate now. I miss the mob...
