Revolver Picture Thread

A working revolver...66-8, loaded with 180 gr Buffalo Bore hard cast lead flat nose .357 (and a snubby in the pack). About 35 miles southwest of Reno, NV.

Stomping around in the West, one of my favorite things to do... I could waste many weeks out there, lots of ground to cover.

It was a lot of fun. Annual Smith & Wesson Collectors Association Symposium in Reno and hiking in evening and late at night.

Wow, there’s not been a post here since Monday! Is Prosecutor on vacation or something ? I’ll throw in a meager contribution to try to keep this ball rolling. I got this 66-8 back in October as a wedding gift from me to me. I have about 700 rds through it so far, and it’s an excellent shooter.
Looks a lot like mine

Just picked up this inexpensive gem.
Rock Island Armory M200 .38spl
$230

Parkerized with a 4" barrel. Arrived DRIPPING with grease. Cleaned her up and took her to the range. Very impressed for the money! She wont win any beauty contests, but the trigger was surprisingly smooth, most noticeably in double action. Got three inch groups at 7 1/2 yards. Seems like a good candidate for a truck gun.

How many display tables would you guesstimate?

Not as many as expected. A few folks had more than one table...but it was probably fewer than 40. I think location as a problem. Reno is sort of in the middle of nowhere. Hard for folks to bring large displays unless committed to a long drive. That said, a lot of good stuff.

I did some work at the Reno airport one time and have been skiing at all the big resorts. Reno is a weird place I gotta say.

Yes. City has a strange vibe. Also, lots of homeless / intoxicated folks near the casinos. Morning looks rough around there.

Things musta been different at your school. :)

Carrying like an old school pimp. Model 37 (no dash). Model 37 is one of the easiest carrying snubs.

You should offer tours of your collection and charge admittance. Seriously.
Outstanding collection, sir.

Yesterday, S&W announced they're now selling 6 "polymer" pistols for each revolver. Because revolvers require so much more labor, this has caused them to have significant excess manufacturing capacity. :(

Don’t like it...but I get it.

On the road at the moment. Have a couple carry options.

The stainless Model 640-2, a .38 only on the J magnum frame built for NYPD in a TT Gunleather holster was IWB all day.

Have a 642 (no dash) as an alternate. Can really appreciate the reduced weight alloy frame. Noticeable difference when compared to the 640. Thisnis built on the original J frame with clear anodizing.

Traveling to a mediation this afternoon and already short on time, could not resist the urge to stop at a local gun shop. Found this good condition Smith & Wesson Model 617-6. It is a stainless, 4 inch, 10 shot, K Frame in .22 lr. It was a ridiculous low price. I swapped the rubber for these old wooden grips that had been buried in a tool box in the garage [emoji6].

I tell ya, you must have a rabbit's foot in your pocket. I'd like to hang out with you and just pick up your leftovers that you turn down.

sweet.

He puts in the time to find these things all over the NC/SC area and the knowledge/experience to know what the heck he is looking at. That and he is a lucky son of a gun. :p

I don't give a hoot about your meditation.
I'm a good bit older than you and I'm calling elder abuse!!!

I like the old stuff. One of my favorites, a Colt New Service .45 from the early 20's

A SW model 1937 .45

Just so I don't leave the single actions out, My new model flat top .44 special

And the last one for now... a 30's vintage Colt Officer's Model Heavy barrel .38 special with some period target grips. Bought it from a fellow who as the executor of a will was trying to sell his deceased friend's handguns to a gun shop. They offered him $50 for the Colt. I followed him out of the shop and offered $150, told him it was worth more but he was tired of gun shop shenanigans and said 'sold'. We went back into the shop and did the transfer. It shoots amazing for an 80 year old revolver.

Right place at the right time. Great pick-up for $150.

Custom round butt Model 28 Highway Patrolman doing bedside duty tonight. It went to the range today with the Model 617-6 and a couple new snubs.
A couple new snubs?
They're not photogenic?
Inquiring minds wanna know. ;)

Another blued Model 36 and a Colt Detective Special....both in stock configuration. Nice, but the Highway Patrolman is more interesting. Just wanted to make sure that the snubs worked before putting them into the carry rotation / safe.
