What are the alternative additional forms of ID the TSA will allow to board domestic flights in 2020 in addition to an NCDL if you don't have a Real ID?

I don't plan any further air travel between now and the time I expire, but I have a brother out of state 13 hours away, and if he dies before me one day I guess I should make an appearance.

Any others? My passport expired and I'm not leaving the country. In fact, I'm not leaving the Carolinas if I can help it.

Edit: I read the NCDOT.gov/dmv page which refers me to the TSA page, which was clear as mud.
I think I have a great excuse to never board another flight.

Found this list, none of which I have, which means unless I'm willing to stand in the onerously long lines at my local DMV, I ain't flying anywhere after 2020. Good.

WHAT ARE OTHER ACCEPTABLE ID FOR DOMESTIC TRAVEL AFTER OCTOBER 1, 2020?

You can still travel without a REAL ID. TSA listed the following as other acceptable forms of ID:
  • Driver’s licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent)
  • U.S. passport
  • U.S. passport card
  • DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
  • U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents
  • Permanent resident card
  • Border crossing card
  • DHS-designated enhanced driver’s license
  • Federally recognized, tribal-issued photo ID
  • HSPD-12 PIV card
  • Foreign government-issued passport
  • Canadian provincial driver’s license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card
  • Transportation worker identification credential
  • U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766)
  • U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential

If you are thinking DMV call and get an appointment. The long lines are for those who just walk in.

What would it take to get CFF to be a Federally recognized tribe?

I'm not flying after the trip I made last year back from Lafayette, Louisiana.
I'll drive or I don't need to be there.

I used to be able to call my local branch, but I think now I have to call the main DMV number, but that is my usual plan. Thanks.

I updated mine when I got my motorcycle endorsement in Feb. It expires in a couple of months anyway though, so back I go :-(

Just renew the passport, path of least resistance. It's not just for air travel it also is used for entrance to any Federal facility they choose to apply it to...

US Passport has to be issued less than 15 years ago to renew it.
That ship has sailed.

It appears I(we) have till Oct 1, 2020 to comply with Real ID in NC, best I can tell.

Hmmm seems the DMV got caught playing favorites to help cut their wait and such with appointments. They had a special office known only to state employees, their families and friends ... old Roy even knew and used it.

http://www.wbtv.com/story/38972555/...ense-office-as-residents-waited-in-long-lines

In August, the office was open from the 13-16. A list of state employees who signed up for the August appointments - which was available online through the software used to schedule the appointments - shows senior employees from Governor Roy Cooper’s Office, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and staff from the North Carolina Department of Transportation all took advantage of an email inviting them to sign up.

Staff was also allowed to schedule appointments for family and friends.

But, unless you know about the office and the quick, convenient service it provides, it’s nearly impossible to determine a driver’s license office even exists at the agency’s headquarters.

The sign out front says, explicitly, that there is not a driver’s license office in the building.

I know this doesn't help, but I just found out I could do my license renewal online, and did it. I guess all they really want is my money.

I got my realID online - granted I am in SC and when I got my SC drivers license I took my passport with me. The DMV must’ve entered whatever is needed to issue the realID.

Re-apply........ but I'm sure there's some other reason you can't do that either....
