Raleigh Dixie Show 17th & 18th

Maybe it’s a matter of timing (i.e., when one visits the show) but my impression was that there was more traffic than I’d seen at recent shows. Anybody have an opinion?

The November show is usually the busiest since it coincides with hunting season...

I was there with my CFF badge, which I guess was adequate warning to keep y’all away. It did seem busier and I did see a wider variety of firearms than past shows.

I was expecting it to be busier than it was, and expected more cars in the parking lot.

I was only going to buy one box of primers (Federal AR Match) but there was a guy selling some older reloading supplies (from reloading neighbor who died) and he had a bunch of primers for sale, $15 per k, so I bought 3 boxes. I also picked up a pound of the new Sport Pistol powder to try.

If anyone needs any Shooters World powders, there is a guy there selling it cheap. Good selection.

Not a bad show, IMHO. I saw some good prices on guns, and some high prices, too. Wasn’t looking for any guns this time, though.

So I bought a holster for my PMR-30 from a guy that made them right there on site. He has a huge pile of blue guns and a heat gun and molds the kydex right there. The backs are leather. It was $45, not too bad a deal. I also bought a rear stock for my AR, a couple of t-shirts, a cheeseburger and a hot dog. :)

I had no idea. Does he cook ‘em with that same heat gun? $45 for a holster and lunch seems pretty darned reasonable.

There was the usual flea market, a coin and stamp show, a snake show, and the gun show. I thought the grounds were crowded.

Had a nice time at the show, met up with some friends, saw a couple guys I had not seen in a while. Hung with Cubrock some at his table. Picked up some ammo and a part. Victory Arms and Catawba Collectibles both had a great selections of Milsurps. Saw some neat older arms on tables and walking around, listened in on a conversation between Cubrock and a guy who brought in a Spencer carbine. The guy was looking for any info and an evaluation of value. He didn't want to sell just wanted an expert opinion to share with family, the old rifle had been living in a closet for many years, it was time to bring it out to be placed somewhere to show it off.

cubrock had a nice Smith 624 4 inch, and if I didn’t already have one.....:)

another vendor had a nice Smith 657 ND but it had a 6 inch barrel, it it were 4 inch.....;)

Nice to see families at the show, then mom leaving with that new handgun or rifle with a big smile.;)

What worries me terribly when I see this is wondering whether the new owner has a safe and a place to practice with the new weapon. I assume the answer most often is NO.

At one show a little girl about seven picked up the Ruger LCP with pink frane and put her finger in the trigger guard while mom watched. Head scratching moment.

I don't see the problem. Everyone knows pink guns are not real. :D

That guy had some good stuff (and some good stories about how he got all that). I got all the Laupa 6.5x55 from him as well as the Keith 158GR 2 holer mould.

He had a lot of stuff UNDER the tables too. Glad I didn't know about his primer pricing :)

I wish I had known about the custom knife guy who was sharpening blades with a leather wheel for $3. I have some inherited knives that I would have brought with me.

I traded for/bought a Ruger Vaquero in 44 magnum. My first single action and it was a good price.
I'm loving 44mag. Started with a Blackhawk revolver, but now have a lever action as well. Those Vaqueros are sweet looking.
