Tiny House Build...

I just re-read your original post in this thread. It looks like a heck of a lot has been accomplished from where we sit just viewing the pics, especially considering the health drama that was visited upon your parents last year.

You're only ten months into the five year plan and the new domicile appears to be in last stages. It's a screaming hot housing market so I'm guessing you'll be able to sell your current place lickity-split when you are ready. When we sold ours last year and paid off that mortgage just like you are planning it was a great feeling.
From your lips to his ears... I'm hoping to get our house on the market in about a month from the time we finish the tiny. Hopefully we'll get a quick sale and be rid of it. Onward and upward...

If I was in the area... Seriously though I'm trying to get away from the demands of steady work honestly. I want to pick projects at my pace and desire. Instead of living to work, I want to work to live...

If you are anything like me, you may be finding little mistakes and things that you look at and figured could have been done differently, but if you were me, you would be looking at the pics on this tablet and saying, "Dang, that is bad a$$!"

I can hardly wait to see this completed! Awesome work.

I'm a contractor by trade. I see ALL the mistakes and hindsight what-ifs... even though clients never do... The beauty of this is, it's not really a big deal to go back and change something later. Everything is a small remodel...

Gosh...I HAVE been away ! You did one helluva job on it so far. One thing ya might consider is raisin it a bit and adding storage underneath. That was our biggest problem, and still is. Never enough storage for the grade two stuff that needs to be kept dry and safe but not 100% secure. Just out of sight. We've used up about 95% of our storage and I'm still giving stuff away out of the man cave building...lol. For those who didn't know yet, we live full time aboard a KZ fifth wheel. The smartest thing we ever did IMO was to sell off our house and go to where property taxes are only $35 a year. We own the fifth wheel, and only have to pay state tax on a tag and maintain insurance. We no longer give Guilford county $1800 a year for something we were short of $8k owning. That number of course has gone up since the last tax payment we made. Kinda put a dent in my idea of property ownership. Someday, when I feel like it, I'll sit down and see how much money we saved by cashin in on the American dream in favor of sanity and peace. ;)

Congrats! I would be all about RV living if the ol' lady was down for it. Don't know if you've seen the "tiny guest house" I recently acquired... It's a 2007 Sprinter Roadtrek Agile SS. Super sexy little Class C mini diesel pusher... I could easily live in it if I had to and wouldn't mind doing it intentionally for a year or two on the road...

There is storage all over... Every nook and cranny is a cabinet. That's part of what is taking so long. We've made some more progress with the cabinets, drawers, and such. I just haven't had time to deal with the pictures. I'll do a big update when I get back in town next month and wrap a few things up...

So I took a month off and actually worked on the tiny house. Haven't been around lately. Was staying in my RV beside it. Well... We moved in almost 2 weeks ago. Loving it so far. Still have some details to work out, but it's been awesome over all. I'll get pics up of the final phase of construction and finished pics soon as I can...

Do you roll down the windows after sex or roll them up to keep the stank in?

Built a cabinet for the area behind the toilet in the bathroom

Storage above for towels and misc stuff, a broom closet on left, a fold out panel for the laundry hamper, a shelf and some cubbies fill it out...

The small cubby bottom left is for the vent and drain passage on the back of the toilet. The larger cubby to the bottom right is for TP storage and compost media refill.

Trimmed and tested the shower and then added the new multi head system I bought. It has a scrubbing attachment and a dog washing attachment for the 6' movable sprayer... Also mounted the mirror and folding towel rack...
