C&E Raleigh Dec 15 and 16

I'm not looking for anything, but a friend has some cash burning a hole in his pocket and is looking to spend, so I'll be there in a consulting capacity Saturday AM.

Not this time. Promised to drive mom to a Christmas event.

Is this gun show usually better or worse than the Dixie gun show? I haven't been to either one yet. Thinking of going today.

It's much smaller, maybe less than half the size? Usually more 'junk', but I gotta say we've gotten some killer deals at this show before so sometimes you get lucky.

I love to go and look at everything at gun shows, but i never expect to find any deals. I always expect guns to actually be a little more expensive than i can find online. But I'll hold out hope that i might find a good deal on something. Maybe today will be the day i get lucky!

Strangely enough, I’ve landed a couple decent deals at this show. That’s why Mrs. Jeppo are gonna cruise down today.

Don't know about the rest of you but, I'll be easy to recognize. Just look for a guy being followed around by a woman carrying his wallet in a lock box.

That's exactly how i treat my wife when she asks to go to Ikea..

How will the CFF crew recognize each other? We need a secret handshake or hand signal or something.
Wearing my CFF hat from the Battery Oaks M&G.

Plenty of room to shop, few less tables then last C&E show.

I'm here. Wearing jeans and a tan colored hat that says "Blackwater" on it. See y'all inside.

That was not a gun show. That was a flea market. Now I'm headed to the correct place.

Tiny show, they were pulling 25% of the tables out (empty) while we were there. Half the tables that were there were junk (candy, jerky, t-shirts, etc).

Bummer.

I just got back (wearing my new blue discreet CFF shirt) . I've never seen so much non-gun show stuff as in this one. In addition, the little building wasn't even full. It did make up for it by being more expensive than Dixie.

Might be my last time for this. Did see some cool old 22 rifles, but nothing that had me reaching for my wallet. I bough absolutely zip.

Agree... sad.

Yep. I'm home already. It was better than a California gun show, but not as exciting as I hoped it would be.

I almost bought a Ruger LCP in .380. It looked like a good deal at 170 bucks. So, last thing, on my way to the door, I stopped at the booth. The little handgun was zip tied to the table. I asked the guy if he would cut the zip tie so i could put it in my front pocket to see how it felt (I asked this with full intentions of buying the gun). He said, "no". I said, "Really? I want to see how it feels in my pocket before I buy it." He said, "Nah, we don't like to cut the zip tie." I said, "Well, I don't like to buy your guns. "

I could hear him stammering as I turned and walked out the front door to go to my truck... I really didn't need that gun anyway.

People are stupid. He think you were gonna run out the door or something? Sounds like you made a reasonable request I guess he just wasn't interested in selling guns today. Kinda silly for him to lug all his inventory to the show, pay for a table and zip tie everything down and then tell people they can't remove zip ties for any reason.

Yeah. I'm not upset about it. I really didn't need to buy that gun.

I actually liked this show for what it was. :D It was extremely underwhelming in terms of vendors, and a few notable staples IMO weren't there, which was sad. But I found an amazing deal on a Marlin .44magnum lever action that I should have bought (someone else was the lucky one there), and a good price on a Keltec bullpup in .308 that I absolutely loved. If I didn't already have money committed to an AR10 made by Black Rifle Works, I would have bought it, as the handling and balance on it were fantastic. A milsurp dealer had two very nice K31 Swiss rifles that I've been wanting forever, I'm just not ready to get those yet. There was good variety of available gun-related materials despite the low number of them, and while yes there were a lot of junk vendors, I felt like if I absolutely needed to find something, I could have found it there. Defender was there, and while I didn't need any ammo relative to cost today, they're always worth investing in. I was particularly excited to find my first Elcan Specter (a Canadian 1x/4x rifle scope I learned of through a video game called Escape from Tarkov) at Kenzie's Optics, so while I have no intention of buying one due to their high cost, that was a rather satisfying find. :)

It was a shame that Blue Collar Reloading, Georgia Arms and Mac's Reloads weren't there, same with Black Rifle Works and the Mag Lady, but I can definitely understand them wanting to not bother with C&E and spring on the Dixie show literally only a month away both before and after.

Cover Six was doing good business.
One vendor priced the Aguila mini shots $20 and a few tables away the same item for $11.
One guy had a nice selection of notebooks and tablets.;)
At least they did not have that lady vendor who keeps firing that stun gun every ten seconds.

If you like AR500 targets, check out this company, he was at the show today, robotic welded with Argon shielding gas,
power coated and free shipping. He has eight people working for him out of Michigan near the airport.
If I had land I'd buy all of them and have a range like Donnie D or Hickock45.;)

Having stopped at that booth myself, I can attest to the seeming quality of the materials used! I really liked the sectional round target, that was set up to spin only the portion of an otherwise standard-sized round target when hit. If I had my own private range at home, I'd definitely want a setup like it!

You missed out on some nice purses!

What about turquoise and beef jerky?

Now that Powder Valley and Brownells are charging sales tax, I may have to start going to gun shows again for powder and primers.

Purses, laptops and tablets of unknown origin, cell phones cases, candy, a retirement advisor, and a few jerky dealers ( and the one jerky seller who usually sells a single strip for a buck had jacked his price to 2/$3). At least there was something firearm orientated on some tables. I usually say that "any gun show is a good gun show", but this show was lacking. As stated prior there was a good 1/4 of the tables bare. It was not worth the $10, 9 with coupon, fee to get in. It was too much of a flea market. I cannot justify supporting a promoter who rents tables to just anybody and knowingly charges a full entry fee when a large portion of tables that have been set up are empty. I am glad for those that found something. But as someone who has set up at shows from time to time, I would have felt robbed. Looks like Dixie show will have to do for me in Raleigh.
