Where's your SAR???

Had to sell it a while back, along with all the bits and ammo. It was before I got my act together and found a real job, had to pay the Fed a pile of money to beg their permission to stay here and that was all I had left that would cover it.

Since I'll be starting from zero I'll probably just suck it up and learn to like ARs this time around since I need optics to shoot worth a damn.

View attachment 89558 Been wanting another AK for awhile, and picked up this Romanian at the gun show Saturday. I’m going to find some replacement wood furniture, because I like the classic look better than the tacticool stuff. It shoots great, and has the G2 trigger.
I have a romanian dong If you need one.

Thanks for the offer, but I like the classic straight front grip. I’d like to find a stock with a longer length of pull. Haven’t been in the AK game in 15-20 years, so I’ve got some catching up to do.

A nice Romy is a great place to start. Welcome back to the sickness, brother.
I’ve only got about $400 in this one after dickering and trading, so I think I did ok. My last AK was a Polish Tantal, and I’ve regretted selling it many times. The Tantal was very accurate.

As long as it shoots I'd say you did great! You can probably even sell all the plastic junk, and offset part of the cost of the rifle or the wood furniture you plan to buy.

Wanna show off my new midwest industries gen 2 mlok rail on the N-PAP, also installed the ALG AKT-EL trigger. Highly recommend. Its sweet.
Also found a nice romanian fleck grip at the gun show to add to my 1986 cugir G kit.

Thanks. That's means alot seeing as how I didnt own a single one or know anything about them other than what Jgrigg let me play with at the range once in a while. I caught a bug when I last fired his arsenal and been on the hunt ever since. I'm falling in love with this platform and my ARs are getting closer and closer to the back of the safe.

Plan on staying broke and identifying as an addict o_O

Don't remember if I should this old commissar. Its a 1891 Dragoon rifle built by Ishevsk in 1922. That's three years after the Bolsheviks took over the country. Rifle has seen better days, multiple stock cracks (green tape holding it together), rear sight broken and flops, top on striker/safety lug is broken, buttplate broken and magazine spring is broken. Can still be feed as a single shot and kill a man at close range. Captured couple months ago in Afghanistan.

Careful with that thing. In classic Century fashion it may or may not explode. :D

Yeah I’ve seen that one. Already looking at chrome lined replacement barrels for it. It runs well so far. May pick up a set of headspace gauges if I end up keeping this barrel in it.

Hopefully I can find some plums to replace the banana clips

They're out there. I just picked up a couple sanitized black painted Russians (re-purposed by Bulgaria) for a good price. Scrub with a bit of acetone followed by a light mineral oil rub, and the plum underneath really pops.

The Galil ACE is the next-gen Israeli Galil, which itself was based on the Finnish Valmet, which was designed as an improvement over the Soviet AK-47, albeit via Polish blueprints.

You guys still follow? Okay, now that we're done with the Kevin Bacon game, I argue that due to its pedigree, the ACE belongs here:

So much want. The little ACE short rifles are sexy as hell.

This is the new Bulgy, right? Glad to see you replaced that Crapco mag with a true Izzy lol. And you managed to score a plum GF3 (with the loose sight leaf)? I don't think I've seen any plum furniture from PSA, but I've gotta say this looks mighty nice paired together!

Have you shot this yet? What's your preferred 5.45 round?

Yeah I got the PSA in plum. Not the same color as the mag, but I expected that. The Tapco mags I got with it are horrible. Loose fitting and ugly as sin, but they did work. I also got a magpul and a cheap Bulgarian commercial mag to try out.
(Also I like the feel of the PSA a lot more with the 74 wood on it)

This is my first 5.45. Always wanted to try this round out.
I’ve only shot 60gr Wolf through it so far. It shoots good aside from the canted front sight. I’ve already talked to DigitalPaladin10, he said he can straighten the sight up for me. Was gonna get some 7N6 from a guy on the forum but shipping was more than I wanted to spend. May still end up buying if he’s still got it when I’ve got more money.

I have some Monarch 60gr to try for next time I go to the range. Rob Ski said good things about that ammo in a review, so I don’t anticipate any problems.

The 5.45x39 PMAGs work surprisingly well for me. I shoot mostly Monarch 60-grain as well, but I really like the new Red Army Standard 59-grain ammo. No problems with either.

As long as you avoided a lemon with the gun, I think you'll really enjoy the caliber. @FarpinDar inadvertently got me hooked and I really wish I had gotten into 5.45 a decade ago. C'est la vie. Surplus mags are pricey, which is really the only big downside. They're out there though if you don't mind hunting for deals.

I have a plum izzy or 2 I'll have out at the Raleigh show this weekend. My tables are in the middle almost about 2/3 towards the back. All ak crap so you should spot me. Pm me if you decide to come and I can set what I have aside for you.
