FF to 6:30

Officer deflects the suspects gun, draws his own, shoots guy three times, amazingly does NOT shoot the guy running up on him, and calls it in, sub 5 second par time.

Way to go. Training training and training

I did search for this so if I missed it, my bad

Damn Kings men hassling people for driving on the roads and then walk up in the man's yard and shoot him down in broad daylight. Good thing there weren't any dogs in the yard.

WOW!

I’m surprise he let the other guy go back into the house.
I think it was a kid, like his son or something.

Did everything right; closed the distance to control the attacker, was prepared and alert, didn't get tunnel vision, and scanned for peripheral threats. Textbook stuff IMO.
Yes. Note that the perp beat the officer to the draw. The officer had to control the perp until he could draw his own gun. This is what happens at close distances. It's not a speed draw contest.

Man! I would like to know/ hear the audio of this incident. So much time talking, one against two. Remaining vigilant, but not an aggressive posture. Movement, talking, decisions.... then a decision and he is prepared. Follows through to keep the rest of the shit from coming down.

It does not look to me that he saw the shooter pulling his gun till he saw the body movement with the gun, maybe too much else going on within his peripheral vision. But, he caught it and defeated the move. Well done.

Noble Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - - On December 18, 2018, Noble Police Sergeant Joshua Lesher was involved in the shooting of 37 year old Layland Ted Lewis, Jr. The incident occurred during a traffic stop of Lewis at the 400 block of North 2nd Street in Noble. Initially, Lewis gave a false name, but the investigation revealed Lewis was wanted in Cleveland County for Armed Robbery. As Lesher attempted to properly identify Lewis, Lewis pulled a handgun from his jacket and pointed it at Lesher's face. Lesher deflected Lewis' handgun, drew his own firearm and fired, hitting Lewis three times. Lewis was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released into the custody of the Cleveland County Sheriff for the Armed Robbery charge. The OSBI was asked to conduct the investigation into the shooting. Upon completion of the investigation, Lewis was charged in Cleveland County District Court with Assault & Battery-Felonious With a Dangerous Weapon against Lesher. On Janua ry 17, 2 019, Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn cleared Lesher of any criminal wrong-doing in shooting Lewis.

Good situational awareness on the officers part. It appears he saw the guy reaching to his jacket and unzipping it as they were walking towards the camera; the officer had his hand on his sidearm already when the suspect drew his weapon. The quickest draw happens when the gun is in your hand (or your hand is on the gun).

Certainly no cowboy style quick draw contest, and indeed it likely never is.

That said: his draw was confident, very fast and effective. Had he bumbled or fumbled it the results we see could be grossly different.

So I take from this that the draw is of paramount importance!

Wow that was impressive on the officers part!

I think the Sgt. noticed the man move his hand into the jacket, as his kept his hand near the service weapon.
His experience saved his life, figure something up with the false name.

Glad the LEO wasn't hurt and paying attention. Great training not to fire on the kid that started approaching him.

If he had not covered the "kid" when he ran up the the kid would have jumped him.
I would have made the kid lay on the ground. No telling what action the teen may have taken out of anger. Perfect reaction by the officer at close quarters. This should be a training video for departments. Definitely was aware of the suspect and his movement.

Play it at .25 speed by clicking the gear icon. Dude just unzips the jacket like it was nothing but Sgt. was on it.
