Is anyone using the Burris Fastfire 3 on a pistol? It looks like a nice budget red dot.

I don't have the money for a Trijicon RMR. I'll be saving for some type of pistol optic over the next couple months and I'm not in a rush right now.

I looked at a Nikon Spur too ,but apparently it has a completely different attachment layout than anything else.

The Holosun has very mixed reviews. It looks more beefy than most budget options.

I'd give a look at the vortex venom over the Burris. Much brighter and crisper dot - also lifetime no questions asked warranty. Hard to beat for the price. I have 5-6 of them now.

I have the BFF3 on a Glock 34. The dot is hard to find on the draw for me. I shot a Cmore dot on a 38super race gun for years. It was a lot easier to find the dot on the draw. Sightron makes a similar dot around $275. Have not shot it.

I have one and its been extremely tough. Battery life is good and its never lost zero. Used it in various competitions for a few years including a year and a half shooting hot 9mm major PF ammo in USPSA and its never missed a beat. If you are looking for a rugged sight for target shooting its hard to beat.

That said, if you want a dot for action shooting there are better options that have bigger windows, brighter dots and sit lower on the slide. I switched to a romeo1 6 moa and am very happy with it.

I have one on a small SMG. It's perfect in that application.

Mine isn't on a pistol, but rather a scout setup on a Yugo AK with an Ultimak. It's a nice little red dot, and I can definitely attest to its durability. I dropped the rifle with a mag in it (9 lbs. or so), upside down, from about five feet. The FastFire III took the full brunt of the fall and survived. There is a slight dent in the metal dome at the top of the sight, but that's it. Thing continues to run perfectly, and has held up to the heat and recoil without a hiccup for probably two years by now.

Burris also has a lifetime warranty on its optics.

I remember reading a comparison some time back and the Vortex was the way to go. Bigger window as a factor, IIRC.

@apachesolutions pretty sure Tim from Apache used to have one on one of his Glocks.

Frank from Apache I think runs a vortex venom on his 17

I have a viper on my xdm 5.25 and really like it. Too big for me to carry. But is fun and accurate to play with on the range.
