Versa Carry holsters

I've seen them advertised on Facebook.

I don't understand the mag placement unless it's meant to be worn appendix???? Just thinking through a mag change from that position if worn strong side.

The holster looks functional but not great. The only reason I'm considering it is the value. The belt looks good and the holster looks useable.

I bought one of their products and the leather was very soft, flexible, prone to deforming, and did not have good natural retention because it did not fit the gun well.
The belt was of the same leather. It stretched out and sagged within 90 days.
Imho, there is no value there.
As always, ymmv.

I've been eyeing this too. The one thing that keeps me from buying one is that the holsters are generically sized rather then fit to the weapon. I've never been impressed by holsters like that in the past although I'm very tempted by this one.

That is exactly the Information I wanted thanks!

I was so thoroughly disappointed in their products that I couldn't bring myself to even give them to someone else.
I ended up cutting the holster into small geometric patterns and the belt into strips for my daughter to use in a multi media art project lol

That’s awesome! Things are cheap for a reason.

They're garbage holsters. And if you order from them, they will spam your e-mail and text you bullcrap at all hours of the day.

This is what you get with crap holsters made from crap leather:

And since no-one else will say it, wow that holster is ugly. And what are those cuts for?

As someone who doesn’t know anything about leather or how it behaves, I would guess it’s so the magazine pouch can stretch so they don’t have to be as specific about sizing the leather there.

Oh, and it looks tacticool...I guess....

Apologies to anyone who owns one but, IMHO it looks tactifugly.

The design says, “Let’s make the simplest holster possible, consuming the minimum possible material and labor, using the cheapest leather we can find, size it to “fit” as many guns as possible and hope people buy it and ignore the total lack of retention.

That's a Galco if I'm seeing the maker mark correct. So it's unlikely to be crap leather. Thin leather does not always mean crap leather. Since it's one of the minimal IWB Holsters it's most likely Chrome Tanned leather, which is sturdy for it's thickness. Meaning you get a thinner holster that's still relatively stiff. Now, it's possible they got a soft spot when it was cut too.

It's also possible that holster was treated with something it should not have been that softened it. Or it was just past it's useful life span. Everything has a useful life span. And given the discolored edge of the leather, that one has seen some use.

From working with leather, I'm not one to jump on the "crap holster" band wagon from that incident. And IIRC the guy shot himself reholstering while seated in the car. Not really the best plan either.

I have one for a beater/backup G23 that stays in my truck. It works and IMHO looks better than an Uncle Mike's nylon special.

I really just liked the color of the belt the mostly.
I was really hesitant to post above but you did ask.

I know we have an esteemed @gunbelt specialist here and, someday, I'm sure I'll buy one from him. In the meantime, as far as economical but TOTALLY functional gunbelts are concerned, I believe it's hard to beat www.30dollargunbelt.com. I've bought several (some with and some without steel cores) and the value is absolutely amazing. If you combined one of their "without" belts with one of @chiefjason 's MADE TO MEASURE holsters, you have a great combo and wouldn't have to worry about your gun falling on the floor when you bend over. Just one old fart's opinion. :)

Agreed that chiefs holsters are the way to go.
In my defense, I bought the VersaCarry I referenced upthread long ago. That was before I discovered chiefs leather...seven times
Now I wont buy anywhere else

@Cowboy . See the detail of the gun in the leather? That takes Jason a lot of time and assures your gun stays in the holster. Eliminating that VITAL step saves those other guys a bunch of money. It also means they don’t need to own a blue gun of every possible model. ;)

I've had a couple. Great holsters for sure.

Mrs. bought me the holster. I used some conditioner on it and allowed it to mold to my XDs before I used it. It was very tight. I went to IWB shortly after I got it, but still use it from time to time, so for every day, I can't say how it would hold up but I am happy with my occasional use so far.

When I carry with that holster, 3 o'clock, I put a pocket knife in it. I don't get it either. On any of them.

I bought this one at Gander last year after I got my FN FiveseveN. I needed a holster so I could carry it. It works however, every time I would remove the pistol the picatinny rail would pull the skin off the outside of my thigh.

Good lord, I thought the other one was ugly. They have no shame or decency or class. Holsters should be a number of things, and IMO a little bit of sexy should be one of them. Life's too short for that nonsense.
