My Hornady LnL is running pretty well, but the bullet feeder is really loud and so I’m about 95% certain that I’m gonna buy a 650. The LnL runs .45acp really really well, so I may just use it for that and run 9mm and 223 on the Dillon.

Anyway, there are lots or tweaks/fixes/accessories available for the LnL, and I see similar for the 650. Are there any that you highly recommend?

As a prospective 650 buyer myself. I think I’m gonna follow this thread. Thanks in advance.

Ive seen a couple guys online take a glass lid off of an appropriate sized skillet and put it over the bullet feeder to dampen the sound, seems to work well and is much less expensive than buying an XL650. I don't run a bullet feeder on my LnL so no first hand experience, but if you like the rest of the press well enough seems like an easy fix.

Bullet feeders are loud. So are case feeders. Is there really much difference between them?

I’ve tried a layer of leather on the inside and a lid plus towel. It’s almost tolerable.

Yes, the bullet feeder is much louder, and most importantly it doesn’t have a switch to turn it off when the feed tube is full.

I’ve heard that the Mr. Bulletfeeder is quieter and has a switch. I’ve ordered one to try for myself. Haven’t got it setup yet, but I did install their powder thru die and like it much better than the Hornady die.

The two accessories that I like most on mine, that I would not run without, are the Inline LED "Skylight" lighting system and the DramWorx Pyrex Replacement Powder Hopper. I have put the Pyrex hopper on all of my equipment. I can leave powder in the hoppers without them reacting with the plastic in ordinary hoppers discoloring it and it significantly reduces "static cling" when changing powders (no laundry sheets required).

The Inline "Ergo Roller Handle" is also very nice.

I haven't noticed the problem #3 is supposed to fix, but the 2nd is very handy, and the 1st and 4th make it run much smoother.
Yeah I wet tumble so I don’t think I’ll need the second. Going to order the online fab base along with items 1, 2, and 4, the Pyrex hopper (have one for the LnL and love it), and a Mr. Bullet Feeder powder die for 9mm tomorrow. Then I need to make bench space.

So from what I’ve found 1,4 are supposed to eliminate the snapping of the shellplate into position causing powder spills. Is there really that much of a difference? One of the big issues I’ve had with my loadmaster was correct indexing(well doing so on a consistent basis over 1-2k rounds anyway) so that somewhat appeals to me. I will likely run mine stock for a couple thousand rounds first to see what I feel is excessive. I’m hoping anything, even out of the box from dillon, will feel significantly better than the Lee.

At the prices @Cue is selling roll sized wet tumbled brass. I’m not sure my press will see any dry media anytime soon. Lol

The spent primer system is a great idea. Rumor on the street is that there is a place somewhere in Concord that buys spent primers

The two bearings help with smoothness (and eliminate wear where the 650 has plastic on plastic friction even if you keep it greased) but the powder spills come from abrupt stops of the shell plate. A lower mass detent ball and lighter spring, along with an oilite or needle bearing under the shellplate so you can run the plate with less play smooths that out.

Everything mentioned thus far are upgrades I did to mine with the exception of the Pyrex powder container upgrade.

The Mr. Bulletfeeder does have a rheostat speed/on-off control and isn’t very loud at all.

If you are going to load 9mm, I highly recommend the Dillon de-capping/resizing die. Myself and others have tried running a non Dillon die and ended up crushing a lot of 9mm cases. That will go away with the Dillon die.

Not specific to the 650, this gadget will work on Dillon powder measures: powder measure quick disconnect. No more screwing/unscrewing the locking collar!

DARN IT!!!! These are the worst threads. Just when when you are happy with your setup and think you are all set, someone comes along with some neat gizmo that makes perfect sense to those of us completely obsessed with our reloading, and the next thing you know you are getting 20 and 30 dollar'd to death.

Unacceptable, any press that isn't blue will not load quality ammo.
