Your latest alcohol purchase

I'll have to take your word in that. If I find it i'll bring a bottle home for the family.
We are building a small stock pile of Chinese rice wines and liquors.
Take it the shot glasses when we have guests. Ha!

I had a bottle of cobra wine too... We made the mistake of drinking it... Not a good idea...

While in Ocho Rios I went on a rum tasting run. Thought this was the best for the money. Have not opened it yet.

Been a good week for Blanton's at the Hill house.

Got two more of the regulars.

Got my first small "pint" size Blanton's (out of state of course).

And thanks to a coworker on his honeymoon cruise I acquired my first ever Balnton's Gold Edition.

Thrillhill, when are you hosting the Blanton party?

NICE!

The envy is deep! Great score. You have a good friend!

This is by far the best Gin I've ever tasted. This stuff is smooth enough to drink right from the bottle!

The past couple of months have been really good to me on the whiskey front.

I am not rich enough to "collect". But it sure does seem like I have gotten addicted to "acquiring" and I guess I like to put it away "bunker style" as the magazines say.

At the end of the day, I certainly like drinking it.

Once again, not affluent enough to buy all this. These pics are representative of the past couple of month's trading, and gifts from friends, along with a handful I purchased myself.

Those of you that know me certainly understand that I am not trying to present myself as something I am not.

But every once in a while I'm gonna show em off cause DAMN THIS IS FUN!!!

Very nice stash!!! Where'd you find that Stagg and Justify?

Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

The Justify was at the Angier ABC store. Miss Shirley does a lot of special orders.

I have three Stagg Jr.s right now. I traded for all 3. I had two before that I drank thinking it would never be hard to find because it was too "hot" for most folks. But I like it a lot.

Stagg for me is one of the great sadness of this "bourbon popularity bubble" that we are in right now. Two years ago I could buy it in the crappiest liquor store I went in. Now we are all chasing it. I remember looking at George T. Stagg at the SILER CITY ABC STORE a few years ago and thinking it was overpriced at $89.95! Not gonna get one now for anything less than $400 unless you are EXTREMELY lucky.

-100 points for making me want to show up and reorganize that layout so you can take pictures again.

Storm is coming.

I'm now officially a dork, but got a little worried about my shelves with the winds and whatnot that may come tomorrow.

In typical NC fashion, had to grab some wood and screws and affix some strips to the front. If a tree hits my stash, then I have other problems.

I'm looking forward to taking the strips off on Saturday. Hopefully it's all for naught.

Priorities. Yup. LOL!

@thrillhill that is an incredible collection, sir. Enviable, to say the least. I was lucky enough to try some of that Laphroaig Lore a month or so ago while in Nashville, TN for work. I grabbed a bite near the Ryman and the bartender was teasing me for drinking Manhattans. He was from Scotland and so I asked for a recommendation. He poured me a big finger of Lore. Holy hell was it an enjoyable experience.

I appreciate the compliments and it's been fun trying to accumulate a good selection to have on hand.

While there is certainly a few dollars worth there, it doesn't really feel like collecting. There are no real "high-end" bottles there. I am not chasing any Van Winkle's or high-end McCallan's. All I am doing is trying to overcome the "scarcity bubble" and stockpile a few of the $30-100 bottles that I think I normally would have liked to try at this point in my life and my "pallet evolution".

For years and years all I would drink was Knob Creek. Friends kept pushing me outside my comfort zone until I decided I REALLY DID like to drink other things. So about the same time I decided to expand my horizons, I discovered those things I might like were getting harder to find. This is just my "prepper-oriented" reaction to that scarcity. Which technically probably makes me a reactionary part of the problem! LOL

Anyway, even though I am a little reticent to open some bottles until I have a second, there are probably 40-50 open bottles. And most everything in there is covered with nicotine from cigarettes and cigars. So it is "my collection" but probably wouldn't be considered "a collection".

And yeah, peaty scotches and Laphroaig in particular have really become a "must have" for me over the past couple of years.

I was kinda meaning to make a little fun of myself because I was worried about my stash enough to get out the screws and wood strips before the storm. But, I get some kind of strange contentment or comfort from looking at those shelves. Getting weird in my old age! LOL

Was at a clients today that is next to the package store where I get most of my liquor. The guy in there usually know what he is talking about when it comes to bourbon and there was a guy that said he knows about scotch. Told him that I wanted something with a slight hint of peat. Ended up with these.

I don't know about the bourbon, but the scotch is good, I like the American Oak version slightly over the 12

How could I NOT add a "Predator" themed whiskey to the collection?

Aged 6 months in charred oak in SC? I am sure if you can survive drinking it you could probably survive facing the Predator as well! LOL!

Come on, you know what it will make you.............

.............., just like me!

Thrillhill I have had moonshine older than that. It too was guaranteed to kill any bugs you got inside of you. That was aged in the hills of NC.

Bottle of rubbing alcohol to do battle with any Red Bugs I might have picked up yesterday. Liberal dousing of feet, ankles, and legs will kill em.

I have never bought alcohol. Believe it or not I've always had people buy it for me knowing I don't drink. I've given away more free booze than a dork at a frat party.

The first Elmer that had been in the store since 2015. Yay! Also heard/read good things about the EC Barrel proof. Cheers!

OK, this was bittersweet. One of my guys is leaving and made me this as his going away present. He had the label's made and got some Weller 12 to fill, since he knows I'm a fan.

At least a couple days during the week at lunch we would make the rounds and see what bourbon we could find around town. He was a beer drinker, but became a bourbon fan over the last year. Now he's nearing the @thrillhill level of hoarding of the bourbons. Lol

So I walk into the office this morning and have a box of blood oath pact 5, another Issa bowman port finished, old forester mint julip, and a Hendricks gin bottle that didn't contain any "gin" sitting on my desk.

Guess who looks like an alcoholic...
