Striper Fishing...

We used to go for stripers (or was it strippers?) down at the Santee Cooper Reservoir with a couple of local guides, Billy Brunson and Bobby George out of the Lyon's Den on the Diversion Canal. Top water season was a blast, unlike any kind of fishing I've ever done before or since.

Should be a fun and exciting time for whomever gets to go.

I've been asked about how long we fish each day, leave the motel around 0715/0730, get breakfast and makings for lunch, fuel for the boat, on the ramp at 0810/0815, in the water by 0830. Fish until we've had enough or 5;30/6:00 then back to the motel for Happy Hour, then walk to dinner, then back to happy hour until bedtime. Usually around 10:00 (for me anyway..... YMMV).......

That’s a great gesture Bill. What part of the Roanoke are you putting into?

Normally the ramp in Weldon unless the water is really high then I use the one up river beside the mill... If the fish have moved down then there are 2 ramps between Weldon and Plymouth that I use to minimize the water run....
So..... depends on water level and the stupid damned fish.... They rarely cooperate!!

Damn it.
I would jump off a bridge for this.
But I promised my wife that week we would d go to Fla to visit an old friend of hers whose personality is being erased by dementia or possibly Alzheimer's.
Someone take BB up on this before I do something really stupid.

For those who have never fished the rockfish run on the Roanoke you owe it to yourself to experience it. It is a world class fishery and an incredibly generous offer on @Bailey Boat part.

Wow! I can’t get off work to do this but would like to thank you from all of us for the awesome gesture of the gift of your time and talent Sir!
