News is reporting a shooting at UNCC....

Campus on Librul Lockdown ... drool ...
Blue bus line shut down.
One suspect apprehended.
FUX 8 News (High Point) repeatedly droning about it.

Can’t be true, it’s a gun free zone. As my wife said, the magic force field failed again.

2 dead
Suspect in custody

The local news will be on all night for this. How many times can they tell you the same thing? I would have liked to have seen the national news and the guy on Jeopardy. But that ain't going to happen. Thank God for Firestick and the Stanley Cup.

“Run, Hide, Fight. Secure yourself, immediately,” officials at UNCC tweeted.

My daughter got an alert on her phone but did not see it until my wife called her, she is in her Dorm on north east side of campus.

No alert sent to my or wife phones. Shooting was near Kennedy Building, adjacent to Library and Belk building.

Two dead and four injured, shooter in custody. Video link below.

It is horrible and tragic. Did anyone hear the News readers saying that the students were told to, run, hide, and fight with anything you could find as a last resort? How about you let the 21 and older students and faculty and staff carry if they so choose?

Supposedly was failing the class and opened fire during final presentations.

I had classes in that building 40 years ago.

Another horrible situation that is senseless. I went to UNCC for a summer session with intentions to continue if I liked it. Hated it. 200 Iranians played soccer or watched in front of my dorm twice a week making study or sleep difficult. Place was concrete and foreign professors I could not follow due to broken English.

Roy Cooper offered helpful advice:

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper has been briefed on the situation at UNCC, according to his Twitter account, which advises those in Charlotte "should stay safe and listen to local officials."

Well, he can’t offer thoughts and prayers. They won’t help, apparently.

Ol Pooper Cooper Waxlips Magoo couldn't don his Emergency Suit for this photo op so he has nothing.

FWIW Charlotte is averaging 10+ murders a month, regardless of location in the city. Why should the gun free college be any difference?

Char-Cago. World Cl-ass S-chity

Submitting, in the next day or 2, legislation mandating background checks for ammo and banning standard magazines over 10 rounds.

I remember when there was a shooting on campus at one of the colleges I went to. I don't really remember hearing much about it on the news but I'll never forget that evening.

So I work 1 mile from UNCC campus, but i was home before the shooting. My coworker was just discussing how 'safe' the area is, and I snort-chortled a derisive laugh. He's a CHP holder but doesn't carry because he only goes straight home and straight to work via the interstate. I said how does that help if there's an active shooter or a carjacker somewhere when you're stopped in the turning lane (which is nearly half-mile long at 5pm from Harris onto 85), etc.

Some people just don't get it.

Or you break down and have to hoof it.

Families of Niner Nation,

This is the saddest day in UNC Charlotte's history. Earlier this evening, the unthinkable happened on our campus. At approximately 5:40 p.m., an individual opened fire in a UNC Charlotte classroom, cutting short the lives of two members of our community and seriously injuring four others.

Families of the deceased victims are being notified, and University staff are with those who are injured. The entire UNC Charlotte community shares the shock and grief of this senseless, devastating act. This was an attack on all of Niner Nation.

I am proud of and grateful for the efforts of UNC Charlotte Police and Public Safety, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, and other emergency officials. The suspected shooter is in custody and lives were saved thanks to their rapid response. Their work on campus will continue over the next several hours. Students and staff on campus should follow the instructions of law enforcement officials and the instructions issued in NinerAlerts. Everyone else should remain off campus until an all-clear message is issued.

The days ahead will be some of the most challenging we have ever encountered. All I can say for certain is that we will get through them together. There is still much that we don't know, and we will share information with you as soon as it is available. Among those unknowns is how we will navigate the remainder of the semester, including the final examination schedule and graduation. Examinations will be canceled through Sunday while we formulate a plan for the following week.

Counseling and Psychological Services is currently providing counseling services to students who were on campus during the event. We intend to make counseling and spiritual support services available to the entire campus community beginning tomorrow morning. Faculty and staff who need support overnight should contact the Employee Assistance Program at 1-877-603-8259. Additional details regarding those services and other resources will follow in the coming hours.

Stayed on campus my first year for Christmas break. Charlotte had one or two people murdered every day. Made myself a promise never to live or work there after I got out of school.
I've had to spend a few nights there over the years but still stay away if I can.

I am a UNCC Graduate. I used to send an annual contribution. I stopped when they kept sending me invitations to attend "Black Alumni" reunions and receptions and asking if I wanted to sit in the "Black Alumni Section" at Homecoming. I contacted my congress-human and asked why my alma mater was promoting racial segregation. He said that was a "good question" and he'd get back to me. Of course, he never did. I chopped up my UNCC credit card (which they got a kickback from), quit sending them money, and started returning their solicitations with my "good question" written on it. They eventually quit sending me stuff.
