Kid-pitch baseball

I LOVED baseball, but sucked at it. I mean I was terrible. So I decided to umpire. Gave serious consideration to making that a career, visions of MLB, etc.

I lasted about 3 years and finally gave it up when I had GRANDPARENTS throwing punches at an 8th grade girl's softball game. The game would have been awesome, and umpiring for the kids was a blast, but the parents ruined it for everyone.

I think baseball is a sport that - at the youth level - is 'easy' to imagine that your kid is some incredible athlete with MLB prospect written all over him. It makes adults nutty.

Don't take things so seriously. Enjoy life and don't sweat the small stuff.

My statement above has nothing to do with the OP or the subject of her thread here.
