..your pocket?
Specifically, with no external safety.
I'm thinking of going this way and want some feedback. I pocket carry a lot using the old school hammer LC9 with the slide safety, and I'm leaning towards the LC9s Pro type of pistol with no external safety. (I like the LC9)

But I'm hesitant. I use a good pocket holster that covers all but the grip, I have the draw mastered..including the safety on/off.. but honestly I'm concerned I'll fumble something and discharge the thing without meaning to.
The LC9s trigger is not what I would consider touchy, but it don't take much to go.
All of my owb rigs have no external safety and I don't give it a second thought.

Am I over-thinking and worried about something that isn't there?

Not overthinking, but under practicing. Practice it with at least 300 draws with an unloaded gun and you'll develop to confidence along with the skill.

And yes...I sometimes carry a G42 in a pocket holster.

That s why I like a S&W 380 Body Guard, Sig P250, Sig P229...DAO. I do occasionally carry a Springer XDS and 1911 in condition 2 but not in my pocket.

Lc9s in my rf pocket, it has a safety but I don't use it. If I didn't trust the holster I would be getting a different one.

I have pocket carried Glocks and LCP's for a long time. As long as you use a good pocket holster and carry nothing but the gun in your pocket, you'll be fine.

And what's a good pocket holster? I be needing one for my G43 with TLR-6.

That's what my instincts tell me. You'll be fine, you're not prone to panic, you practice, you're not a commando.
But I admit, I did take some comfort in the hammer fired part of the old LC9. You just about can't have an ND with this thing. But the trigger sucks in every other aspect, long as hell, vague, when the hammer falls it's almost a surprise, and the reset is in there somewhere and good luck finding it. I've never 'liked' the hammer fired but not shooting myself in the femur was a consideration.

I've never carried anything with a light or laser. Mika makes a wondeful pocket holster and I really like the DeSantis Nemesis.

Can you get your hand in the pocket and grip the pistol or do you need to adjust your grip after? If the first then good, if the second you might want to rethink it.

For what it's worth, if you are entirely comfortable with the LC9, why change?

I think as long as you have a good pocket holster that covers the trigger well, and as mentioned earlier, only carry the gun in that pocket, then you'll be fine.

If I were to carry in a pocket, I would probably be inclined to carry something with a heavier DAO trigger, and without an external safety. I personally see safeties on a carry gun as a liability, and on a gun that is meant for close range self defense, I couldn't care less what the trigger pull was or the sights looked like. Chances are you will not notice either, in the unfortunate event you have to use it.

I don’t pocket carry usually, but when I do I use a pocket holster. A DAO with a nice long pull seems better for this type of carry.

Yeah good grip, no adjusting..falls right where I want it. It's the only thing in that pocket. Kind of why I wanna stay with the LC9 series.
I like the smooth exterior, fits in regular blue jeans(takes the whole pocket but very do-able), the 7+1 capacity..but I like the striker trigger so much better and I'm kind of wanting to can the safety.

Yup, pretty much. I know what to expect from the hammer trigger, like a revolver it does have merit as a 'safety' but not something you need to manipulate in a shtf scene. I suppose I could just leave the safety off, but I'd just as soon it not even be there.

Depending on the size of the pocket,I sometimes carry a lc9s pro or an lcp (technically a hammer fired gun). When I do, there is nothing else in the right front pocket except a folded handkerchief which helps to position the gun for an easy grip and further breaks up the profile. I do practice with this.
I more commonly appendix carry with a kydex trigger holster that has has had a strong belt clip added to it.

First, I wear loose pants. Easy to draw from the pocket.

I've carried S&W Bodyguard 380, Ruger Lc380, Lc9s pro, Kahr Cw380, LCP II, and G43. Every one of them were carried in Galco pocket holsters for that particular pistol, and still carry the G43 and LCP II that way.

Galco Pro
I have used one now for 15+ years with a striker fired pistol.

I love these.
And they practically give them away.

Yes, Sig P365.

Also, is it wrong that I don't want anything else in my pocket, not just because of safety, but also because I don't want to mar the finish of the firearm?

I've been known to pocket carry an LCP II in a Sticky. It has a light trigger even though it has a hammer. Some folks are afraid of them for pocket carry.

Keep the booger rake off the bang switch and all will be well.

I feel as though if I am afraid to carry any pistol in any way I can at any given time, I shouldn't be carrying it at all.

We suggest to all..carry Nothing but your GUN. Don't even be tempted to put change in there. It's amazing what can get inside the trigger guard.

That isn’t an issue with the P365. They all have broken strikers. ;)

Used to pocket carry my g43 tlr6 in a sticky when wearing dress slacks. After doing some training I discovered that it’s not the most efficient way to do it. Appendix is where it’s at. Get you a tuckable holster and you are good to go.
