Hey all, I’m moving forward with the new build and I’m looking at barrel options and I’m looking for input on either of the two barrels I’m looking at buying.

I’m primarily looking at these barrels

Liberty/Satern

https://shop.saternbarrels.net/products/22-65-grendel-ii-df-ss

Criterion

https://msrarms.com/products/criterion-barrels-stainless-steel-6-5-grendel-barrels-options/

I’m looking at the 22” Criterion on the second link.

I have not owned or used either companies products but I’d like opinions on if I should go with one over the other, I know one is fluted and one is not, they both fall into the price range I’m looking to spend, I can take or leave the fluting either way.

If there are other barrels I should take a hard look at, feel free to post them.

I have not owned either of them.

Both my barrels came from Rainier Arms. They both are same hole at 100 yards. They sell good stuff.

Just in case you want something else to consider.

Had a satern barrel on a grendel build, It was pretty good. I'm pretty much only using hawk hill barrels now, which are flat out awesome. Most of our builds are going out tested to 3/8" moa. Another to check out if you haven't seen them...

My grendel has a ballistic advantage dmr barrel. As long as you doing what you need to do it shoots great. Sub moa at 100yds with factory hornady 123 eld match ammo.

Thanks for the info everyone, I think I’ve decided on the Liberty/Satern but a 24” 6.5 Grendel rather than the 22”and plan on making it strictly a bench gun.

Over the next 6-7 months I’ll start the process of converting my faithful PSA carbine over to a 16” or 18” 6.8 SPC II, a new barrel, bolt and mags and I’m in business on the cheap and I focus on important stuff like glass for the new boomstick! :D

@Joker00 what was your barrel on that grendel?
Ar stoner. 24 inch. I was really surprised with the accuracy of that barrel. I wish I could have shot that barrel with the skill set that I have now. Not saying that I'm a great shooting but I have learned a lot over the years. When I shot the grendel is when I first started shooting long range matches

Well I ended up ordering a Brownells premium 24” Satern 5R button rifled barrel & bolt combo, for the price and warranty Brownells was offering I couldn’t pass it up and if I end up getting serious about shooting long range I’ll invest in a cut rifled barrel down the road, from the reviews I’ve seen it should far exceed my skill level for a while and I saw no point in jacking up a high end barrel as I learn to reload and shoot iddy biddy groups lol
