I'm sort of shocked they haven't gone over 100 percent to drone flights, it's not like the tech isn't cheap enough to lose a bunch before it hurts.

Creative idea...… I assume you need much less space to land/take off an ultralight. I used to hears stories about guys who had their own small personal aircraft and runways who would run dope.

500k? Pfft...that was a decoy.
The real shipment went across somewhere else at the same time...

"I used to hears stories about guys who had their own small personal aircraft..."

before 9/11, "small personal aircraft" would drop dope on cleared mountaintops in Ashe county.
this is from the story i was told by one of the "pickup in a pickup" guys. the dope was just dropped
out sometimes from less than 200 feet. usually in a duct-taped red cooler. of course, the cooler
would split, but it was good enough to protect the wrapped-up contents. $500 per cooler pay.

Met a guy once that had an interesting gig over in the sandbox using ultra-lights, mine location. He said, he would set out after dark with night vision and IR equipment. He would fly low over the sand and that the mines would cool at a different rate than the surrounding environment, making them stand out. He would mark them for action the next day.

A friend of my dad's had his house & both his airplanes seized by the IRS back in the '70's over non-payment of taxes on his South American based business.

I was about to say; with the radar they have, of course they tracked the aircraft. Why on earth was he not flying and dropping bundles at specific coordinates? So they catch him and charge him with illegal entry worst case
