Best Micro and Compact 9’s

My other concealed carry. Not a huge fan of them, but for the price it's hard to argue with.
They're tools for a job. I'd feel bad if I had to use my Colt defender for a SD reason and give it up to the local PD for months or years of "safekeeping". A $249 Shield? One of those I may just let them keep it until they 'lose' it and then raise hell ;)

That factors in high on the reason why my other EDC is a P320. Cheap hi-cap mags are coming down the line also thanks to Uncle Sugar adopting it.

M&P Shields are everything these guns are not: cheap, reliable, and common.
Yep. Price may be the only Great thing about it, but there's nothing bad.
My wife is set on having mine, so some day soon I'll probably take the moderate increase in size and big increase in capacity of the 2.0C.

Tell me, how do you like carrying a brick?

Those are some heavy guns....
I remember when I used to carry an Officers Model 1911 and thought it was small and lightweight. For the time it was. ;)

And you're going to have to do something about that avatar. That's some AOC insanity right there.

I like either of mine for lots of reasons, but capacity wins the day. Yeah, I’ve heard it before, “one well placed shot” or “you need to practice more”, blah blah.
If that’s the case carry your derringer as primary, I’ll stick with what I feel appropriate. ;)

Best small 9 I've carried and shot is the Sig P290RS and of course it's not made anymore. I've had the Rugers and the Glocks. I still have a SA EMP4 CC that is a superb firearm but I dont think it qualifies as a mini or compact. Ive gone all 45acp for my PD guns because they dont make a 46acp. I keep the Sig as a BUG gun and the EMP4 becuase it's just so damn sweet and arthritis will eventually cure me of shooting 45's.

I didn’t know that SIG discontinued the P290RS so now I can say I have a collectible LOL :)

I was pretty happy with a sig 938 I had for a while. Also the compact sig P320. The 320 has a pretty good trigger out of the box but I sold them both for something else.

I think you are confused. A xd9s is not heavy at all

I wouldn't call the XDs heavy but it's definitely heavier than other guns its size. I rotate between it and a G43. Both guns are virtually the same size but the XDs weighs 8oz more than the Glock with both unloaded. A half pound is not a lot but when it weighs 1 1/2 as much a gun the same size it may seem so.

With all that said I still like and carry both.

Three years straight wearing this aiwb, 10+1

I've got another mag with a +2 base plate that I use occasionally. I find this set up to be a very compact and reliable platform.

This is an awesome discussion. I hope we never take for granted all the options we have now.

Thirty years ago this would have been a much shorter conversation.
Heck, even 10 years ago it was either a Khar or Keltec PF-9 it seems. I remember when the Shield came out and people went nuts.
