I just finished this book today. It is by Tim Bax and it is an interesting memoir of the Rhodesian Bush War from the perspective of someone who joined the Rhodesian military while drunk. One of the more interesting things I learned about what how colonization and imperialism was like during this time. He does not pull punches about the colonial attitude of the era and even after the fall of Rhodesia. His life has some points that are too amazing to be true, but it has been confirmed by his former CO. He writes in a tongue in cheek way and some of the stories will have you laughing. Overall an interesting look at a the little known Rhodesian bush war from a person with their boots on the ground and finger on the trigger.

That actually sounds really interesting, think I’ll pick that one up. Thanks.

We have a Scout that visits here on occasion. We have his picture on the wall in uniform and a little exhibit of the patches and insignia they used. He tells harrowing tales. They were constitutionally immune to prosecution.

Thanks for helping to keep their story alive.

A great book on the same topic is The Bleed.

A story of a Vietnam veteran, US Recon Marine Officer time in the RLI Fire Force and Selous Scouts
