11yr old stops hone invasion in Orange County

The only thing this accomplishes is to make El Thuggo think he's invincible....hell, he survived a machete atrack...and he gets a State paid vacation at a Felonies R Us finishing school where he makes contacts for future thuggery...

Think back to when you where 11 years old ... 5th grade ... Little League? How would you have acted if some bigger 19 year old scum with friends broke into your home? For me that was a loooooong time back and then we didn’t have all the crap going on today ... we were allowed to be kids. I can’t say what I would have done but about the most would have been a baseball bat and screaming ... not a machete and most likely after the kick to the stomach I’d have been out of fight. That kid has the heart of a lion and his have dropped ... brass one at that! I just guessing but the way the World has gone to crap made this brave young MAN stand up way more than I think I would have back at his age ... good for him but kinda sad statement of how far down the crapper our society has gone.

Perhaps somebody had a key for the cuffs? I hope he has no plans to go back to the kid's house.

They were waiting for the hospital to call that he was being discharged so he wasn't under arrest. Guy just walked out the door and it was awhile before a nurse noticed. Why they were waiting to serve the warrant or at least not outside his door is beyonfd me and I used to be a LEO

UNC Hospital has its own police force. OCSD is pointing to their long-standing agreements, UNC is saying OCSD's mistake. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Good news is he has been re-apprehended.

Why is nobody asking why the 11 year old was home alone to begin with?

I don’t see that as a problem, if he’s capable... which he is.
Just because this situation turned out ok I wouldn't necessarily say he's capable. It could've been much, much worse.

Because it's none of our GD business how other people raise their kids?
Excuse me if I don't find it acceptable to leave a child alone in a home with a history of break ins.

I applaud them both, and it's still none of my business except that it's in the news.

Don’t add to the story because you don’t like it.

it was 1, several years ago.
They were to never move on ? Rearrange their lives for that scum?
The way I see it, the Dad did the boy proud and allowed him to be capable. Which, again, he was.

And don’t give me that” it could have turned out bad” crap...
You driving down the road could turn out bad. Are you going to stay home and never leave, because you know, it “could” be bad ??

We obviously have different views on this situation, and that's ok. Not everyone thinks the same. I'm glad the situation turned out like it did and I applaud the little guy for defending himself.

It isn’t ideal, but sometimes peoples’ lives don’t allow them to live as they should or we would like them to. There are likely financial reasons why Dad is working and not home with the kid. The world’s a rough place. Glad the kid was able to handle it.

Our differences make the world go round...
Have a great evening, Brother.

I wanna know why there is a machete in the house :)?!? Y'all all act like THAT is normal. hahahahahahaha. Albeit, I've had some pretty weird stuff in my house on occasion.

Seriously. Who keeps a single machete in the house?

Seriously,
I've got one in my closet, 2 in the garage, one stuck in my mower, and another in the shed.

I have a machete in my garage for lawn use, inside I keep a tomahawk and various other edged devices (mostly for butchering use in the field), but this does highlight another need to buy item, a well forged sword (in the event someone can't immediately access one of my firearms) as an option.

Could you imagine if the kid had a well-made katana at hand? They'd have to have ServPro out there for weeks to get that scumbag's stain out the carpets.

I buy my 8 yr old step son all sorts of cool shit that young lads his age want. I am trying to teach him good taste so he doesn't turn to gas station/flea market knives in later life.

When I was a kid, I liked camping and playing in the woods. I kept my machete in my bedroom until I moved out and got a place of my own. It was in the closet right next to my tent, sleeping bag, and 22 rifle.
