Have you seen the ad on tv with the guy that is the Olympic swimmer talking about his therapist, and how and why you should have one too. Please tell me we have not gotten to the point in this world where so many folks are so wacked out and need therapy that it is now being advertised on tv like tires, and pizza, and soft drinks. Am I wrong to think this is not a good thing? Maybe it is just me.

What world do you live on? Man has had a troubled soul for a millennia. It's in our nature. And there have been therapist around to console and guide for just as long. Only, we called them ministers and God.

This is obviously meant to solve the mental health crisis.

When I was entertaining the idea of the "fat boy surgery" I went to a therapist (required) I really enjoyed the visit.

Of course if you are the paranoid type you might not like it too much.

How does that make you feel?

Capitalism.
They have a service and are trying to sell more of it, thus the advertisements and using a 'celebrity' to help them

Some folks find therapy useful, some folks dont feel like they need it. Both are a o k.

Maybe it IS just me. But so far I've made it 66 years without one. I suppose that could change, but I sure hope not. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

No offense on my end. I had a similar attitude, but after a particularly crappy event in my life, I had absolutely no outlet for my rage and grief, and simply bottled it up to deal with the considerable aftermath of the event. Fast forward a few years later and realize I'd essentially obliterated every personal relationship in my life and my marriage was next. Simply having somebody unbiased to help me notice patterns of behavior and self sabotage was extremely helpful.

It's a damn shame there is such a stigma placed on seeking help, especially for firearms owners.
