So the used Subaru we bought quickly picked something up in the front left tire. I plugged it. Seemed good. Then it got low again, with the crazy temps I figured it might be that. Then the light came on again, checked, all good. Topped off a bit anyway. Light goes off. Light comes back on. Getting real tired of this but ignored it for a while since the tire pressure was fine.

Talking to a buddy of mine I made an offhand comment about it. His response. Have you checked the spare? Sure enough spare is way low, top it off, light has not come back on. So not really looking for help but thought someone else here might find it helpful.

Yep spare tire.
Read the manual should be a way to reset the TPS
If it acts up again.
Pull the fuse and plug it back in used to work on older GM vehicles

Discount Tire will repair your flat tires no charge if there is a store near you.

Take all of them out Seal them in a PVC pipe with caps and a valve stam installed. put 40psi in canister and stow it somewhere in the car.

I bought my 16 year old daughter a Subaru legacy as her first car. She had a slow leak a few months ago that ended up being a nail and that caused the light to come on which freaked her out. I had it patched. After I told her it was no big deal and to keep an eye on the tires, she had a tire light come on again a couple weeks ago. She kept driving after seeing the light as she said I told her it was no big deal. She came inside after being out and told me she had a flat tire. Went outside to find the tire was pretty much gone and she drove home a few miles on the rim. That cost around $600 for two new tires and a salvage yard rim.

Her twin brother backed into my wife's Sequoia the same day. FML

Correct air pressure is on the sticker usually inside the drivers door jamb. The sidewall is max pressure the tire is rated to hold carrying the max weight the tire is capable of.If you set your tire pressure by the sidewall your tires are over inflated. You will have a harsher ride and they will wear out quicker in the middle of the tread.

If you have 5 big butts and luggage in the car it is not a bad idea to add 5lbs to your tires while loaded heavy.

A dead or dying tire pressure monitor can cause the light to stay on as well.If your air pressure is good and the light stays on most likely you have a faulty sensor.Any over 7 years can be suspect.Any reputable tire shop can read the sensors with a scan tool and tell you if they are reading correct pressure, have a low battery,or not working at all.

Toyota was the first manufacturer to install tpms in a spare tire IIRC.Some others do it now so long as it has a full size spare.More and more cars are coming w/o a spare. It is usually an extra cost item you have to ask for.Better get the jack and lug wrench as well.I see the whole kits for hyundai's on amazon/ebay cheaper than you can buy them from the dealer.

DT will not repair a tire that has had a standard push in style plug installed. Said it is a safety issue.
They will repair your flat tires unless you repaired it yourself first. No sidewall repairs either.
