What did you do or get surprised with today?

My wife said we'd get going, get a cup of coffee, and drive to Cabelas for a replacement bass fishing pole. While kayak fishing a couple of weeks ago I got the tip caught in some branches when launching and snapped off 6". I repaired it but casting distance is affected.

Other than that, puttering around the yard.

Update: Daughters and grand kids are all over Thursday afternoon/night!

I will be surprise if I get what I asked for. What is that you ask? The same thing I ask for every year and never get. Just a simple hug, a kiss on the check and an "I love you daddy". I tell my girl this every year and she always has to try and get something "special" for dad. Why can't she understand that what I ask for is "special"?

I've got the smoker going right now,
Then some yard work and cleaning up the garage.
The grandkids are in a play and I've been tasked with the animal backdrop. So I've got a truck load of cardboard to bring in and start the layout and building.

I asked for the same thing I always ask for...nothing.

The tribe, every year, ask, “What do you want for Father’s Day?”

I have two great kids that gave me the best job on earth. I’ve had 20 years of watching them grow from infants into the adults they’ve become. I’ve changed diapers, rocked them to sleep, cooked meals, baited hooks, helped with homework, patched up cuts, provided an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on, watched both of them walk across the stage and get their HS diploma...

Nah...this dude here doesn’t need anything for Father’s Day. Got two decades worth of Father’s Day gifts.

Wife bought me a Husqvarna zero turn mower and a new rolling tool/gear box. Haven't decided whether I'm going to load it up with tools for projects around here and the rental property or use it as a dry box for hunting gear instead.

About half an hour ago my 3 year old toddled into the bedroom and said "Hi Dad" and gave me a hug. That's all I really needed.....

They ordered something.
The kid made something at daycare.
Probably be a lot like any other day.

We came down to our beach shack for weekend. Wife gave me a bottle rye and picked me up a big brisket plate from the BBQ House last night. Kiddo gave me some Reese's cups and a nice card. We gon just goof off in the surf today and relax. Enjoys yalls day everyone!!

I don't ask for gifts anymore, since a long time. I only ask that my family make something themselves or we all spend time doing something together.

Every year I ask for help doing things. Instead I’ll get something that came in an Amazon box.

That’s ok for what it is, but I’d rather be a family that helps each other.

Wife made breakfast (pancakes, eggs, bacon, hash browns and fresh strawberries) while I mowed and my oldest is gathering up the shooting stuff for a trip to FLD. I tell the family every year not to get me anything for my birthday, Father’s Day or Christmas but they will ignore my wishes as usual

The thing he made, is uh, nice. The survey he did about me that accompanied it was interesting:
He's 5. Apparently I am 15yo, weigh 16lbs, I'm funny when I say funny words, I don't get mad, have brown hair and eyes, like hot dogs and soda, and the kid loves me because I read bedtime stories. Good stuff.

The thing they ordered is a pop-up beach tent, probably good for me and my Nordic complexion, but kinda ranks right there with useless junk in my mind.

No gifts asked for here, but I was able to get an uninterrupted trip to the rifle range this morning. :)

Having a semi-rough day as this is the first Father's Day since Dad passed. Really missing him a lot

I ask that no gifts on Father’s Day as I have endless amounts of stuff that never gets used. My daughter did bring me a framed photo. It was an ultrasound. I’m going to be a grandfather again. The 25 month old identical twins are getting a cousin. I’m looking forward to mid December.

I got to give my Dad a hug this morning, due to an unexpected 500 mile trip that put me close enough to visit this weekend... that was the best.

On the home front it looks like I have some pulled pork and peach cobbler in the forecast tonight, and have gotten lots of hugs from my girls,so a perfect end to a great day.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads and father figures out there. Keep up the good work!
