I gotta get another hobby (besides guns)

I found these 5k run n gun matches and physical long range matches that one rucks the match.

I am no physical stud by any measure and know i am pulling the end of the line with me, but it gave me a new aspect to gun shooting. Now i have goals at the range to achieve, plus improvement in my physical health.

So thats my new hobby

I am pretty sure you have been through some stuff I haven’t but I am also sure I have at least a few years on you. My guess is you shouldn't sell yourself short. You can train your body to do more than you think. Good on you for maintaining the part most of us are’t willing to work at.

Thanks,

My motivation has been the improvement in weight loss. I am now 40lbs lighter then in Jan 2019. That reads like a HUGE difference, but i am a big guy so its only a 11% loss. My goal is to reach a 16% loss of body fat. This would put me at 280lbs on the hoof. Lol

Now, my safety net is the VA. I was rated high enough disability to use them for medical insurance. This gave me the piece of mind to go exercise.

Sounds odd, but with a back like mine it means alot.

Thanks for the thumbs up, it means alot to me.

Maybe I need to buy a playstation and get some yarn to knit with.
PlayStation and XBox are a BIG time suck. Great value in terms of $/hour but they’re a time suck.

Get your ham radio license, get the general class and explore the HF world. Make contact with far away places using a wire strung up in a tree in the back yard. Yesterday I saw folks on the air from Latvia and Hungary. Tried to make contact, but the conditions were a little intermittent.

Wear a codpiece and beat eachother with blocks of metal. It's probably your only chance to wear a codpiece.

I began my gun journey aggressively and vigorously at 18 (only ten years ago). At 26 I picked up Traditional Chinese Archery, and now that's all I want to do. If I had land to shoot on that might be a different story. But I can stroll out in my backyard and shoot my bow any time I want to. It has been a great trip in discipline and strength training. I meet once a year with other practitioners from all over the country, and some even come internationally. I find myself loving my guns, but willing to sell a few to pick up new equipment for my archery. I also like amateur photography. Taking some landscape stuff, but usually it's of my guns and archery related activities. Try picking up a camera or a bow (doesn't have to be Chinese!!).

I have come to the conclusion that I have hobbies and interests...the interests wax and wain.

Current interests that I am starting to imbibe in for the 1st time or would like to pick up again:
HF Radio
Fly fishing / tying
Gardening
Archery
Reloading

I try to read at least a hour or two a day for enjoyment. I listen to Audible or Podcasts while driving to and from work for work related stuff and professional development.

Going back to school, which is going to be a big time drain.

The time is there, you just have to allocate it. If you can watch TV for 2 hours, you have time to do something else.
