I'm new to all these matches....do they get shuffled around date-wise, and cancelled a lot??
Is shooting in the rain not good?

Slipping and sliding in the mud while running around with a loaded pistol is not the safest thing. We have had people slip and fall on dry ground and its multiple times worse when it is raining and muddy. It is not so much that a person could be injured by slipping , even though that is a concern, but that when going down they might have a negligent discharge.

I get the ND. For sure!
But why would you even run in the rain? Just move slower. Everybody will be slower, so the top guy will still be the top guy anyway, probably.

I'm sure there's a lot wrong with my logic, I'm a newbie! LoL.

While SOing or keeping score, I've physically caught two different shooters my size (XXL) going down in the mud with a hot gun in their hands in the past year at matches. Also, wet score sheets, and wet targets that pasters won't stick to are a pain, especially when it is so wet that for every round that hits the target, a dozen pasters fly off and you can't score it.

My first two years shooting nearly every weekend I can remember only one rain out, due to Hurricane Matthew. This past year though has had many.

Would you guys shoot in the rain if you could?

I would absolutely.
At one of the matches earlier this year was some light rain that lasted for a couple of stages. Just enough to get stuff damp. We didn't stop for that.
But like @fieldgrade said, it would get to a point that its pointless. I havn't experienced that personally. I've only shot a handful of matches.

I have practiced in the rain sure enough. Twice. Once on purpose and once because it started raining just after I had gotten started and I was too stubborn to pack up and go back home!

Ok, so I definitely have to exercise, diet and lose some weight. You don't have to be so mean about it. LOL

In case the need arises

In case the need ever arises, at the Carolina Cup they put plastic bags over the targets, pulled them tight and stapled them so the bags wouldn’t move. They then pasted directly on the wet bags. The pasters stuck and stayed (even better that they do on dry cardboard.) It was a stroke of genius that I would never have guessed would work.

My oldest daughter graduates high school tommorow. That's 4 fun hours
I took a "short cut" through Buies Creek today. Campbell U was graduating today. Traffic was backed up for several miles out onto 421 past the school of medicine.

Expect the unexpected.

I watched the match today, awesome place and incredible shooting! A bit hot for me to be out in but I'm glad I went, as I saw 2 "movie stars"....."Bradley Cooper" was on the squad I was following, and I got a peek at "Liev Schreiber" in passing, both actors I like a lot.....nice to see the megabucks stars out shooting. LOL.
And....I didn't get lost on the way there or getting home!

Wonder if they can shave another 2.1 seconds off... :D

Big congrats to Matt, he's been killing it!
If they shave 8 off mine (ran right past that steel on stage three) I can move up from the middle, one more place... to the middle.
:D

Just realized, I don't have a magazine pouch for the Sig....can I do this one with my G19? I have all the "stuff" for that one.
Even the ammo!!

It is a 60rd minimum match. A lot of shooters pocket carry their spare magazines for their B.U.G.s.

You can shoot the G19 but it will be in the Not for Competition division because it isn't a legal B.U.G.

Dang it, if I'm going to sweat in the heat, I'm getting a score sheet! Can I keep my extra magazines for the Sig in my bra or pockets? Don't have the cash right now to go and get a proper holder for them.

You can pocket carry the spare mags but not bra carry them!

One of the SO’s wont be there tomorrow due to heatstroke, hospital visit, and 5 IV bags of fluid today. Tomorrow’s weather will be like today. Probably not a good day for anyone to stay after the match.

Car trouble, sorry I couldn't have been there, y'all did great!

Match next Saturday the 13th correct? Depending on how my wife feels after her surgery a few days ago I may or may not ride up....hell may ride the bike and not even shoot!
