A while back I bought a m19 that was in bad shape. Bought it because I wanted to work on the guts, which turned out to be less intimidating than the sear cage on a CZ pistol, and ended up deciding to make it into a gun that looks like hell but shoots well.

@DougGuy standardized the chambers for me. Upon shooting just a little I was getting some primer cratering and then locked up the gun, could have been a loose primer pocket or maybe an overcharge. I banged on the side of the cylinder to get it to open, and in the process bent the crane/yoke.

Decided to have S&W fix it since I don’t have a revolver smith. Told them the story, they paid shipping to them in April. I put it out of my mind, and have heard nothing since, until today.

Today I got an email from Fedex saying to expect a shipment on Wednesday. Had no idea what for, took a min to figure out who “SAW” was. Address they used is a little wrong, but hopefully good enough that it’ll still get to me.

Looking forward to letting you know what I get back and if there is an invoice attached.

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have returned it to you without receiving payment in full. In other words, I'm betting they fixed it free AND paid the freight.

I've had to send several guns back. In a couple cases, more than one trip was required for them to actually resolve the issue. However, I can say that I've been more than satisfied with the way they treated me. From a "standing behind the product" viewpoint, they absolutely rock.

@Jeppo You should collect CZs. You don’t have to rate their customer service because you don’t ever need it.

On reflection, I’ve realized I should expand on why I have so much experience with S&W’s customer service. It seems leaving guns in the safe can lead to warranty issues.

No way your gun collection is a safe unless it’s a room safe. I’ve actually heard good things about many gun manufactures customer service except PSA and Kimber. I can safely say from experience Kimber cannot diagnose their gun issues. I will not even get into PSA.

Was it an older M19 or one of the new models? S&W has a cutoff date for revo repairs. I can't recall the exact date but no dash models are too old, according to them. Sucks.

It’s a 19-3, and it’s entirely possible that they kept it for a while and are sending it back without having done anything to it.

I do have a no dash m17 (or maybe it’s a pre 17) that needs a little work, gotta find a guy. It’s been sitting in the safe for a couple years just waiting for repair.
