So it looks like an amazon delivery was pilfered from my mailbox today. I had two shipments of small items and both said delivered in the mailbox but only one was there, and now of course the PS is closed and Amazon has no "I didn't get my package" link/button or phone number. Bummer. Only about $50 or so but it was something I wanted to use like now.

First world problems!

I had this happen a few days ago. Same thing. I thought maybe someone took it but i live in bumfuk, NC so that just leaves the horses to take it. Turns out some amazon prime stuff ships parcel select. Gosh darn fedex probably lost it. Told me it was delivered in the mailbox.. but get this. It was 2 dozen rolls of toilet paper. And no, my mail box isnt the size of a trunk.
It showed up 3 days late on TOP of mine and my neighbors mailbox with the box wet. Thinking it got lost at fedex or sat on the neighbors porch over the time it was missing.

Half the time, mine is sitting in front of the guyā€™s gate directly across the street.

A bunch of times I've had them say it was delivered and it wasn't, and Amazon says "wait a day or two", and sure enough, it shows up...annoying, but at least it did show up. I hope your stuff is in the mail tomorrow....

My area in Raleigh had problems with the satellite office, too many casual carriers and they would mark 'blocked' or delivered,
I have a Nest Camera and was home all day, not blocked, no bears either (true UPS story) in the driveway.
I do have another home with the same house number but different street and we both get each others mail delivered.

You can go to US Postal site and use the tracking number to make inquiry, they are pretty good and will get back to you quickly.

I think my wife knew this person in Asheville.

Me too.

I am convinced this is the USPS padding their stats for on time delivery.

The "bear in driveway" driver didn't take the package to the door, but he left it in the mailbox.

Around here, UPS and USPS both do a good job. Fedex is a distant third, they are pretty pitiful in our area.

I've had the same problem quite a few times with fill in carriers. The tracking says delivered and there is nothing in the box. It's only because the fill in carrier is lazy and wants to go home. So they just leave it on the truck and when the next carrier comes in the next day they deliver it.

Once last year and twice this year I had SmartPost or SurePost packages " out for delivery" suddenly stop and go into limbo. The two this year I discovered the mail carrier had whimsically marked them "held at post office at customer request". Total BS. Package from last year was actually returned to the USPS distribution center in another state. I cornered the Postmaster on that one, who agreed it never should have happened, then shrugged and said their fill-in carriers arent "career oriented people". Most recent one I went to the Post Office and the clerk there actually phoned the carrier to ask what happened and get him to re-deliver.

I'm guessing it happens a lot as no one at USPS seems surprised by any of this.

I have gotten a number of delivery texts, while sitting at home, with no delivery person in sight. Usually I'll get another that evening saying the already delivered package is expected delivery tomorrow.

Sunday, I got a couldn't access your building, mailbox, driveway from Amazon, but nothing from USPS text alerts. Interestingly enough I was home, nothing was blocked, never saw the carrier. Only option was reschedule, scheduled for Monday, get a text, expected delivery Weds, receive package Monday. Point being, they don't have any idea what they're doing.

Mail innovations, SurePost, and that stuff with two carriers involved is usually much worse.

Should be a "Item didn't arrive or arrived late" selection in the order details. Amazon will give you a refund after 3 days if it never shows up. We've had this happen before a couple of times.
USPS(US Package Stealers) doesn't care and its easier for Amazon to just replace or refund.

Iā€™ve had those stupid messages about nobody home, tried to deliver, etc. while Iā€™ve been home waiting for the delivery. Had a long discussion with an honest guy in the local FedEx hub who explained why that can happen. If the driver is at the end of his shift and canā€™t get everything delivered, thereā€™s no other button to push (i.e., thereā€™s no ā€œI donā€™t have time to get it delivered todayā€ button. Might be the same situation at USPS.

We generally always get packages sent UPS...we are in the middle of our normal drivers route. Plus I always make sure to hook him up with some bottles of cold water whenever its miserable outside. FedEx we are at the end of route...not so much.
USPS and Sure Post.... someone will bring it...who knows when. I've had 4 different people from USPS drop off stuff on the same day.

I trust USPS as much as I trust gas station sushi...or a date with Bill Cosby...

I bought something off eBay a few weeks ago, from Maryland, followed the tracking. It got to Raleigh...then to Charleston, SC, then somewhere else in SC, then back to Raleigh, then to Durham. Raleigh to South Carolina?? WTH??

Must be Fedex....

A bunch of times I've had them say it was delivered and it wasn't
Last time this happened to me in was a shipment of ammo from Underwood. The UPS said it was delivered and Signed for!!! It showed up 9 Days Later.
Guess what the driver said when I asked him what had happened??? Uhhh I dunnoā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.

If any other business was run like the USPS, it would have closed down years ago. They don't give a $hit including the higher ups.

Usps just sucks. They are horrible. A few years ago I had a great mail lady. She was awesome! I told her to just through my large packages in my truck and she would so they didn't get wet. The new ones are horrible. They wont deliver packages, they will say the package is there but it's not. Yesterday I got a package that wasn't even mine, it went 2 miles down the road. I delivered it so the person would get their stuff on time.

I had to buy one of those large mailboxes so they would start delivering my stuff instead of just leaving it by my gate.

They didn't deliver a package. I went to get the package from the postal office. Talked to the post master and he said they can't leave a package anywhere but the front porch. I told him you haven't had access to my front porch in 30 years! Why does it matter now?!

Sorry usps is a sore spot for me.....

Why do you think they are going broke!? I had them say that they deliver several packages to my house last year. We looked everywhere and couldnā€™t find them. Come to find out, they were put into my sonā€™s Jeep, which was broken and not being driven.

+1-888-280-4331 Amazon will make it right

If they're anything like my local USPS drivers, they're too busy looking for drugs to be bothered with getting mail in the correct mailbox. I've also seen them deliver mail, but because the driver didn't want to get out to drop off the package at the door, leave and claim it was delivered. She's one of the most lazy people I've ever met. She'll routinely pull into someone's driveway and blow the horn for them to come out and get the package from her car. I'm certain there are better, hard working individuals, that would kill for this job. Erwin USPS needs to lay off hiring all the local crack heads.

I think they can't get anyone else to work there apparently. I've met some really good folks at the PO but as far as mail carriers go the last real consistent carrier we had was 15 years ago or more. Ever since then its been a revolving door of temps, contract workers, etc and a new face every few months.
I dont recognize the guy delivering my mail, certainly don't know his name.

My UPS guy has been constant for years- I know when hes near cause he runs up and down the street with Rush Limbaugh blasting away full volume on the truck radio. I'm not a RL fan, but to me its like kids hearing the music for the ice cream truck, my goodies are about to arrive.

We have the same three or four that deliver in our area. ALL of them fail at driving and have no respect for personal property, as they will routinely turn around in someone's yard, no matter what is there. I've had them run well up into my yard when it's wet and leave tracks, run over landscaping, and hit my mailbox and not repair it. The really are scraping the bottom of the barrel when they look for carriers.

I told mine that if she gets on my bad side that i'll quit carrying the eight to twelve 70# boxes of lead that I send out a week to the post office and start scheduling pickups. We never miss a piece of mail.

Iā€™ve had more issues with Fedex and UPS than the USPS but it really depends on your area

Iā€™ve literally chased a UPS truck down the road when the driver ran up and stuck a ā€œsorry we missed youā€ tag on the door when I was sitting there waiting for the delivery in the living room. Like it was mentioned, he was on a time crunch and he was trying to make up time by skipping deliveries. Too bad he picked an occupied house! I caught him at a stop sign in the area and was like ā€œDude you didnā€™t even ring the bellā€ and held up the notification tag he left. I got my package

I got this just the other day taped to a package that was beat to hell. Their solution, this note and a ton of USPS clear packing tape. I practically had to hack it all off with a machete!
