I want to use a drone for fishing, surf fishing.....carry line out and look for fish but dang good ones are expensive!!!!

But I’m a buy once cry once kind of guy. I like the waterproof ones the best and @ 1400.00 each its a hard pill to swallow.

How are you going to drop the line?

Wouldn't that be against some sort of wildlife regulation in using mechanical equipment to create an unfair advantage?
I think fish finders on boats or any electronics would be worse than a drone, still working on the line release...they are several videos out on it.

Also they use rc 4x4 with turkey decoys on them and drive them around to bring in gobblers.

My limited experience is on the cheap side and while the novelty is there I don’t know that they’d be robust enough for anything like that. There is definitely I curve to fly them well.

Dropping line or using RC decoys sounds interesting but I wouldn’t want any of the GW around way walking up on me unless you’re known for sure. If the 2019-2020 regs aren’t out yet, they will be soon.

Bad news in N.C....

“Hunting & Fishing Operators may not use a UAS to disrupt wildlife resources or the lawful taking of wildlife. It is also against the law in North Carolina to use a UAS in the process of taking wildlife resources (N.C. G.S. 113.295).”

I think taking bait out in the ocean should not be illegal it they didn’t ask me.

Have you researched those compressed air cannons that launch bait out for surf fishing? I know it isn't much for scouting, but it does make for an easy way to cast way out.

That's slick, but $$$
I watched a guy in North Myrtle Beach use one. He had a nice set up. H had goggles that he could fly it first person and look down in the water. He would send that thing way out, it would drop the line and fly back.
