Has anyone used these $29 lowers from PSA? Do they make a reliable range toy? Just ordered 2 so me and the wife can put them together. She said she thinks she can put a better one together than I can. (Neither one of us has put an AR together before) should be fun.IMG_20190621_102306.jpg

Oh yeah, you won’t have any issues.

I've had to chase the grip screw threads and open up FCG pin holes before. the finish gets everywhere and it can be thick enough to be an issue. That's it tho, no other issues here.

I’ve built on quite a few of these receivers, and they’re gtg. Two of them are made by Aero, and are drilled and tapped for the tensioning screw, although it’s not included.

I'm going to try and go to PSA Friday and pick up the lowers. I'm leaning heavily to the 10.5 pistol kit they have. I'm liking the FDE a lot. The wife is undecided as of yet.

If you can try them out (not sure what they have available to put hands on), you need to try an SBA3 vs a Shockwave brace.

I've not tried either one but the SB looks more comfortable than the Shockwave but that's something that I can change out later if need be. I'm just trying to build on the budget side with this being my first and all.

Has the contest started, yet?

If only the PSA lowers were cheap. Shipping, Tax and Transfer = might as well buy something local for $60

Oh wait, yes I have one on my 300blk. So far so good . Have only done subsonics though. The Jeffrey's tube threads might decouple and cause a core dump if the dylithim crystals should rupture. I don;t even know what kind of nonsense that was but I understand it perfectly.

Here we go again...

Not everyone has a shop locally that sells decent lowers for $60. You do. That's awesome. A lot of people may. Which is also awesome. But not everyone does, and for those that don't, PSA is a decent option. This isn't the first time you have attempted to convince people that a $40 PSA lower really isn't that good of a deal because >YOU< could get a $60 lower at your source.

it's not just my tabletop FFL.....

Here's some 'local' shops that sell stripped lowers for similar after factoring in FFL and $8 per reciever shipping to their 'sale' price of $29.

I buy PSA parts. I buy 'firearms' at my LGS for many reasons other than price.

Again, not everyone has a Hyatts or a Cabelas nearby. On top of that, those are Anderson lowers.

Not yet. We had a vet bill that ate up all the build money but the lowers do look pretty good. When we went to pick them up I asked if they had anymore in stock and they did so I got a third one for my daughter. She is nine and actually cried for one because she wants to build one with Daddy.IMG_20190713_183909.jpg

I have both. I’m no expert, and I don’t have a long history with using them. Also, my sample-size is tiny.

If you took the markings off each and asked me which was better, I would not be able to choose. If anything, the PSA has a blacker look to it, but other than that, flip a coin, use either one, fit and function will be the same.

What are your experiences that make you want one over the other? Do you feel the difference matters enough where, if you had a functioning Anderson build, and a spare PSA lower, you’d tear down the gun and rebuild it on PSA (for anything other than looks)? I can see disliking the logo of the Anderson.

1. You said just the same as Noveske. Of which the comparisons are varied and many. Of which someone far more experienced with Noveske products would be easily able to point out.

2. He linked Anderson lowers when this discussion is about PSA lowers. So he was not comparing the same product.

3. I have three ARs built on Anderson, so I am familiar with their products.

4. Anderson has a history of hit or miss quality control. Fortunately, with a lower, it if works, then it works. So you are saving a few (and in the example he provided with the products he linked) if not zero dollars to roll the dice on QC.

5. Sadly, branding matters. Anderson, for better or worse, has an image in the marketplace. If one should ever decide to sell the built AR, the vast majority of buyers would prefer a PSA build over an Anderson.

6. No, I would not break down the ARs I have that are built on Anderson lowers. However, if a PSA and an Anderson were set on a table in front of me, and the cost was the same or even $10 different, I would reach for the PSA easily.

So again...he was comparing two products of nearly identical price, yet one has known quality issues and a poor perception on the market. The other carries nearly none of that weight. You come in with comparing it to a Noveske, which is a completely different animal and would be like comparing a Rock Island 1911 with a Dan Wesson. Yes, still 1911s, but very different at the same time.

Thanks. I didn’t even know Noveske wasn’t PSA. Since the thread is about PSA, when 88Mustang mentioned the name, I figured they must be a ghost-builder for PSA.

I’ll admit to having very little AR experience, and haven’t paid any real attention to builder’s names.

Funny thing about Anderson lowers is that they cost MORE than PSA, most times I’ve seen them.

Yup, and again, I have used both and have had no issues with Anderson personally. But they are called “poverty pony’s” by gun snobs, and the moniker does at times carry over to resell. There have been cases of some of the holes not being to spec, but I too am no expert on those technicalities.

The gripe I have with the “I can get em cheaper” is he isn’t comparing apples to apples and his “cheaper” is either “the same price” or an amount less than a snickers bar and a 20 oz drink.
