Woman Charged For Stealing Estranged Husband's Firearms

Ugh

That article is so biased...

"She drove to his house, got past the locked front door, gathered his guns....."

Got past the locked front door...

That's breaking and entering!

Haha

That is a hot mess. If he ends up being convicted of domestic abuse, this case will be the precedent for looser red flag laws.

Florida already has Red Flag laws so why didn't she use this course of action instead of committing a felony. But I'm sure her supporters will use the end to justify the means.

Even the headline was biased. "She gave her estranged husband’s guns to the cops" "She drove to his house, got past the locked front door (broke in), gathered his guns (stole property)....."

There is no disputing that she committed multiple crimes. Of course she and the lefty gun grabbers think her motives justify the crimes, but that is where this falls apart. FL has red flag laws and I think any judge can order someone pending trial, especially DV, to temporarily surrender their firearms.

Taking things into your own hands is not a good idea and she learned that the hard way.

Takeaways from this messy situation:
1) don’t give your wife the combo to your safe, or change it when things go sour
2) if he had a dash cam he would’ve been able to prove his innocence on the initial arrest, or maybe his guilt.

Sorry, nothing gave her the right to take said actions into her own hands.

I would fully support her going out and buying a firearm later that day to protect herself; but her actions stated previously are nothing more than that of a common thief.

She broke the law. Now she can’t own or buy a firearm if convicted and this record will follow her everywhere she goes. I hope she doesn’t get away with it. The kids will be the real losers in this crazy mess.

I haven't read the story yet, but the topic reminded me of an episode of Forensic Files I just watched last night.

A guy named Ron Rubin reported his integrally suppressed Ruger .22 pistol stolen. He wrote the ATF to let them know.

Seven years later, his wife used it to murder him.

I’m sure this case will be used to make that process easier since the judge specified that he not possess firearms pretrial, yet did not send anyone to collect his “Arsenal” (another nice bias in the article).

Possibly the judged weighed that option and decided is was not necessary.

I anticipate the charges against her will not be prosecuted since we don’t vigorously prosecute activism. If her husband is lucky, he’ll get s better plea deal if he agrees to drop the charges...but I hope his defense is solid enough that he doesn’t have to.

"Taylor Irby was booked on two charges of grand theft of a firearm and one charge of armed burglary."

Armed Burglary? I hope she was armed when she went in for this charge. If the police charged her with that because she was technically armed when she went out that was a miscarriage of justice. I despise to see cops try to make charges fit when that isn't what the charges are written for.

I can agree with that point...

Many leo's and prosecutors will throw tons of crap at the wall just to see what sticks... I know because that's what i was taught to do while attending the Federal LE Training Center in Charleston... They are taught to pile on the charges and then they are taught what to say and what not to say while testifying against the defendant.

There are great cops out there, but in this case, that armed burglary charge sounds bogus, unless she was already packing her own gun on the way in the front door...
