When Freedom Group (ironic name choice BTW) bought Remington/NEF/H&R several years back, they discontinued the barrel exchange program. I picked up a Handi in .243 a few years ago in Canada from RR, and lately I’ve been thinking about adding different calibers.
Does anyone know if any other manufacturers or small companies have picked up the slack and started making new barrels for the Handi Rifles? I know you can occasionally find some on eBay and GunBroker, but they command premium prices higher than just the guns themselves. Hoping to find that some more affordable options are out there.

Just as I feared, no aftermarket support has been developed. Maybe one day some innovative forward thinker will decide to go in the Handi Rifle barrel business. I’m thinking it could be a lucrative venture.

They were the poor mans TC Contender but alas I haven't seen any barrels for a while. They're also fitted.

Graybeard Outdoors forum has an H&R classifieds, better prices than fleabay too. In their FAQ's section there are barrel fitting instructions for when you don't luck into one locking up properly.

I sold my last two handy rifles awhile back. Wife has one in .243, she was talking about a .17HMR barrel the other day. I'm gon check that Graybeard outdoors.

Maaaaan its always somthin!!

Thanks for the heads up.

They did make some barrels called versa barrels. I think in 22LR, 22 Mag and 410 that would work on a centerfire frame. Don’t quote me on it as it’s been ten years. I’ve owned a ton, 10 maybe 15 in various calibers over the past decade. None now. They are fun guns, especially the 16.5” 45-70 and 357 Max barrels I had.

Graybeards was the place to go for anything H&R/Handy related

Quoted.

Don’t tell me what to do!! :p

I got on a 10 gauge kick for some reason awhile back and bought 4 of the shotguns. For why I have no idea. I have one that is cut down to 18.5" in 10 ga. I just remembered I do have a youth kit that has a .270 barrel, a 20ga barrel and another barrel I do not remember what it is. I thought it was a .22lr but not sure. I need to dig it out of the safe and see. I have had two of the muzzle loaders. They worked great for a low cost gun I could (at the time) only use for a week. Here is the vid that started the 10ga thing.

I know where there is a 24" bbl 10 ga threaded for chokes and a 36" 10 ga full choke. The latter is for swatting birds out the air haha.

You can take the one you currently have or buy any caliber, cut it after the hinge, bore out the cut off, thread and rebarrel.

Seen it done on a bastard bench rest that the guy won $2000 over a year betting fools at matches. super cool
