Bought a house last August with a detached 21x24 shop with loft, aka man cave. I’m fairly certain the original owner put this in so he could put a small half bath in to clean up. Is this what that is for? I think it’s a sump pump to pump the waste/gray water to the septic system.... Is that correct? What are the other pipes for? I’m assuming ones a drain line, is the clear insulated one a water line? I’ll have to go under the main house and see if I see if there is a water line that is connected.

I wonder why the sump/pump when there’s a. 4” stub out for sanitary drain, if that’s what it is...

Take the top off the sump. If it is sealed then it is probably for waste disposal, if it’s connected to the foundation drains then it is not.

That stub may just go into the concrete and over to the sump.

Looks like water, sanitary drain lines and a sump pump are set up in the slab, but not connected.
This ^^^? Portable water is the clear hose with black armaflex insulation run in concrete. The pump is a sewage pump. Pipes have been run under the concrete prior to the slab pour. Take the lid off. Shoot a couple pictures with light.

Every one of those I've seen have been outside. I'm sure the venting is nasty! Especially in an enclosed garage.
Seems odd to have a duplex outlet near a half-bath like that

Op can blowdry his hair while taking a shower :)

If that's a pump system for sewage, it should have been located outside.

I've seen them under the toilet that is on a platform over the sump.
Stuff plops in then macerated out to a sewage line else where.

Yeah... Nasty when they stop working and you got to open them up for repair... That's what my friend said..

I would not want the pump assembly inside my structure. Any repairs results in the structure stinking for a long time. Although it’s not uncommon for them inside. Looks like you are set for an upstairs apartment addition.

I appreciate all the replies. I will open it up this weekend and post a picture. I also have the contact info for the original owner so am thinking about reaching out to him to see exactly what he did.

I bet this is all lower than your sewer/septic. If so it is to pump waste from the below grade future toilet to your sewer/septic.

That does not make sense to me becaue there is a 3" or 4" drain pipe in the slab next to it. Typically that would be used for septic....

Have not had a chance to pull the cover off. Crazy busy weekend. I know for a fact the shop is down hill from the septic tank. Has to be a grinder and pump
