I got a PMR-30 today

Just got some upgrades for mine. Don't shoot it much, but maybe I will after I get these installed.

I'm thinking about getting the trigger kit, the thumb rest I could take or leave and the enlarged safety I don't need I can operate it pretty well as it is

Man, I was just in High Point today. Sounds like another road trip is in order. :)
Our normal meet & meat joint is on the south end of Main Street in High Point. They are closed this week so we decided on “The Pit”. Join us for one of our normal Friday feasts at BBQJ’s and Outdoor Limited is only 5 minutes from there. The only caveat is you gotta order, online, at least the day before.

That’s good to know about ordering a day before! I sure will make another trip! :)

It’s an online only warehouse so they’re not set up for cash and carry.

Damn I am lazy.I have had one for 6 months and haven't shot it yet.

I have owned 2. There have been several through here. My experience has been thus...Be careful how you load your mags...to get 100% reliability we used CCI MaxiMags. Shoot it just at dusk, you will be rewarded with an Orange Basketball out of the muzzle. Big fun. As an aside I replaced mine with the 1911 in .22 mag. It fit my tiny hand better.

I'm on my second, traded the first in a fit of stupidity. Love them. Stick with 40gr or heavier and it should be reliable. Mine have gotten dirty fast though and need regular cleaning to maintain reliabity, gets better as it breaks in.

My first one was pretty inaccurate, I sent it back and they tweaked it and then it was acceptable. Minimags are good for reliability but like any rimfire you'll have to do some testing to find out what it likes for the best accuracy. Mine liked Armscor which also functioned fine but was very dirty, I could feel unburnt crap pelting me when firing that I never feel with other brands.

It's not a fixed barrel like most rimfire handguns and it's extremely lightweight, it would have to be a very compact and light can to have a prayer of working IMO.
Agree but it is magnum not a standard rimfire, my Sparrow is 6.5oz.
I may consider the CMR instead.

I see I've been invoked, heh.

I really, really wanted to love my PMR, but after it slam fired in the house and the slide blew apart while we were shooting, I felt snake bit. Kel Tec was a peach about replacing the entire pistol with no issue.
I'm hoping this one has no issues, as many others said, I WANT to love this thing

I had one and really wanted to like it as well. The biggest thing for me, was the big grip. I have fairly small hands, and the very long front to back grip made it hard for me to hold with a proper grip. Considering it wasn't going to be a target pistol for me, I could get around that, but it required a change. It had a few failures to feed here and there, but it did well with certain ammos and when being very careful with loading. I picked up a mag loader that helped a lot to be sure the rounds were seated back in the magazine (very important). It also did well with heavier ammo, and I think it was perfectly flawless with Federal 50gr. Huge fireballs too!! As others have said it was fun to shoot, and even more fun to carry in the woods and such. Much easier to carry this on your hip with 30 rds versus a Canik with 20rds. Massive difference in weight. In the end, I got rid of mine, because it didn't fit my needs, but it was fun. I want to try the CP33, but as I did with the PMR30, I'll just wait until they drop in price.

Has anyone installed a threaded barrel and a can? I see one in the vid but would like to have local input?

I have both the PMRand the CMR, and love both of them. With Keltech you either get a diamond or a dog with not many in betweens!

A successful first time out shooting, it didn't have any failures until it started to get dirty (all I have is armscor ammo right now) but even still it didn't give too many failures, I think I got about 6 or 7 mags out of it before we called it. So all in all so far so good.
ETA: found 4 empty boxes, so 200 rounds went pretty well. I'll call it a win.

Has anybody put a different front sight on it and gotten different\better results? It's a shame you can't change the rear sights but at least you can put an RMR on it.

I got my PMR 30 several years ago. Have never had a problem with it. I bought 2 extra magazines for it . I carry it every day . Out here in the sticks on the chicken farm it comes in hand for varmints . Even killed a yote with one round to the chest .
