Your latest alcohol purchase

Was at a client's today and there was a package shop next door. Had to stop in and found a bunch of stuff put up behind the counter. Asked about the Stagg and was given a price of $499. I told him it looked good up there. After that price I did not even look to see what else was up there but got this. Never had it. There was a bourbon on the self called Heaven's Door. Any heard or tried it?

Heaven's Door is one of those "developed with/by celebrity" whiskies. That is the one Bob Dylan is attached to. I am reticent to pay money for it. I don't think I personally know anyone who has tried it. Maybe it's good? I dunno.

I've tried them, they're not bad at all. Definitely playing on the Bob Dylan card though for sure.

That's the stuff I got last night. Not bad at all.

My team has been decimated after the acquisition of a new VP. Lost 2 of the 4 now :(

Going away present from #2

Dropped my wife and oldest daughter off to get the latter’s hair cut this afternoon. So I popped in to the local package store to see what I could find. Think I did Ok.

Local store also had this. Any one tried it before? Sounds interesting.

In NC at my local ABC. It was the last bottle. We have a pretty good bourbon and whiskey selection normally. I normally miss the rare stuff when it comes in. Guy at the counter remembered talking to me about bourbon on another trip in and pointed it out to me.

I think you and I shop at the same location. I like their selection. They had some more of the Uncle Nearest today, but passed on it for the EC that I bought, instead. It was the last one they had in store.

That bowman is now known as bourbon candy around here. Give it a few minutes over a big ice cube and it really opens up on the flavors!

I'd been trying to get some of this Dickel Bottled in Bond since it came out but it hasn't quite made it to NC yet.

A friend of mine was able to pick one up for me in SC last week.

I know nothing about the other one. Yet! LOL

Sweet. It has your name written all over it! And it's 101 proof!

It is not gonna be the peat taste you like, but that is a very nice Scotch.
Never had the 15, not a huge Macallan fan. It’s fine scotch I’m sure, just not in your wheelhouse. It’s a chance to expand your horizons. (What I used to tell my kids when they were trying new things). Cheers!

Of the non-peaty scotches that I have had, my favorite so far has been the Glenfiddich 14. But I guess that was aged in bourbon barrels. I didn't know if the Macallan Fine Oak might not have some similarities to that. Although I haven't tried the Glenlivet 15 yet that @Chdamn had brought over either.

Guess I'll find out when I open it!

And just for the record, as a follow-up or addendum to that last post, I do not consider Old Pulteney to be a non peaty scotch.

You'll taste it, but it's tolerable peat for me. More of a @Chdamn flavor profile.

Yeah. Feel free to send that bottle of rotgut on to me. Lol.

It’s probably the smoothest and cleanest tasting scotch out there. I haven’t had the 15 but I’ve had the 10 and the 18. That should be delicious.

But, this is a limited release, and NC was allocated 100 cases in total, so availability probably won't last long.

First impression is not great. I used to drink dickel years ago but this has a unusual taste

It did not get better as the night continued so switched to Buffalo Trace

Has anybody joined a whiskey club? Just looked at Flavir but have not idea about them. Cost is $300 per year.

I read a lot of bad reviews of Flaviar on some of the FB pages. About 8 or 9 out of 10 members are "former" members and say it's not worth it.

Building a bar in my basement. Wanted the Willett and the Harper because they are nice bottles. Never had the Weller special reserve before. On a good run finding stuff lately. All at retail! Cheers! (now if I can find some Stagg Jr.)
