Henderson police officer shot in drive-by while investigating shooting, police say

Temperatures rising.

Henderson isn't the greatest (safest) of places to begin with.

There have been a few instances in the news recently where the cops either, couldnt or didn't have sufficient resources to respond. Of course policing works with a compliant populace and breaks down when a sufficient percentage of the community works against or outright targets them.

We are rapidly reaching the point where we're touching the limits of what people will tolerate in terms of the hand of government. Those limits are going to be hit first in "minority" and communities of "color" where the relationship between the People and the government enforcement systems are already strained.

Henderson is a tee-total shit hole. I went to HS there and while it was never great it has turned into a a mini Flynt, Mi since 2002.

My wife was offered a job there once, it was a big promotion, I researched it we passed.

A friend of mine’s brother who runs a tractor dealership there was murdered in his own front yard.

Hmmm ... the story says ...
The officer was transported to Maria Parham Health and then flown by LifeFlight to Duke Medical Center, Ellington said.

Ronald Ragland, who lives on the street where the officer was shot, told CBS 17 that he heard about 20 gunshots and saw the officer being frantically loaded into the back of an ambulance.

According to Ellington, the officer had just received a promotion and had been with the department for some time. Ellington did not release the name of the officer or say where on his body he was shot. Police said they won’t be releasing the officer’s name.

The officer is expected to be OK, the mayor said.
... while MPH is not a major trauma hospital the LEO required more than it was able to provide there but is expected to recover so it kinda sounds like the round(s) struck other than the vest or make non-pistol caliber. Kinda hope is was not the latter one and some hood rat is running around with an AK or AR type (witness said he heard maybe 20 rounds fired) ... especially in pistol form with a brace that’s all we need for the media to latch on to.

MPH is a decent hospital. You are 100% correct it is not a major trauma center. They are a LifePoint/Duke joint venture IIRC. Most rural hospitals medivac traumas out to larger facilities which makes sense because the skills needed to to take care of that level of trauma would deteriorate in a smaller facility. It is more efficient for the system and patient to stabilize and medivac.

I was going to say MPH should be pretty good at dealing with gunshot wounds by now but it does seem like most of the shootings in Henderson have resulted in death before the paramedics get there.

Wonder if they ever caught the serial rapist that was out that way?

More than a few shootings have happened at MPH. The entire area is a cesspool.

Girlfriends civic broke down at like 11:30pm on the way through Henderson. Had to pull off freeway. Pretty shady spot.

That was the evening my girlfriend did a 180 on my need to CCW.

Henderson is an area that one needs to elevate one's firepower to a substantial shoulder weapon.

Yeah, I’ve witnessed it for myself. We drive to Wake Forest for most everything we do. Our boys went to a movie in Henderson with some friends, there was a shooting at the entrance just after their movie was over. Needless to say we don’t go there anymore.

Yeah, I make sure my doors are locked and my Glock is within reaching distance, AR on the back seat locked and loaded. I’ve got a good friend from “Henasin” as he pronounces it. Great place to get shot!
