Not in this case. I got the Harbor Freight pole electric chain saw by "Portland" a few year back to do some arborist work. I bid the price of the saw into the job (it was $60 at the time), and the job fell through, and I never got around to taking the saw back. Sat in the box for about 3 years. I have some cedars in the back which shed quite a few limbs and I am having a HELL of a time with this temperamentally "I won't crank until I am good and ready" Stihl gas saw, so I unpacked this little sucker from the box, put the bar and chain on, gave it some bar oil and ..... I am really impressed! First thing I noticed was that it has an Oregon bar and chain (unlike what I would expect from "cheap Chinese crap"). Stupid easy to put together, and well balanced. Now, admittedly it is cedar (very soft wood) but that little booger ate through some 8 inch branches like butter.
It telescopes out to about 10 feet and does a very nice job. Recommended. I am seriously thinking about my selling BMW class chain saw (Stihl), since the blasted thing won't ever crank if it has been sitting more than 4 weeks and just going electric for now.
