Did You Go Shooting Today

I was informed by the misses, when I got home from work, that we were going to the range. She obviously needed some stress relief. She also told me to take a big revolver. So, I gathered up a few guns, some ammo, and off we went. She shot the Ruger SR22 and her CZ97. Then I pulled out the 10" Ruger Blackhawk 44. She shot a few rounds from that, and suddenly all was good in the world. :D

I took my new-to-me FNX 45 and shot a couple of mags. The reduced loads I brought (200gn plated, 4.6gn Titegroup) were not enough to fully cycle the gun. Will have to come back with some stout loads for it. Accuracy was great, though.

She's a keeper if she likes 44s !!!!!!!!!

If it doesn't rain for 30 minutes today... I've had an RIA Officers model with some Wilson upgrades for about a month now that I haven't fired one round thru.
That's a record for me, and it bothers me everyday. I usually run home and fire a new weapon the same day I get it !!!!

Shot around 42 rounds from the 1911 then called my Tactical AR instructor into the range to shoot a few mags. He had said something complimentary about my shooting at that time one handed and still getting all my hits. He REALLY needed to get a smile on his face so I just wanted to see him enjoy shooting something he was not accustomed to, but would still be accurate and fast. He finished smiling and that's all that mattered.;)

250 rounds .22 at DPRC rimfire match. Did well with pistol but had a worn extractor on rifle. Failure to extract and stovepipe on three stages. OUCH. Still had a great day with wonderful people. 20190713_194706.jpg

It was hotter than blazes this morning at Woody's. The humidity was off the chart (for me at least). Sadly my newly acquired Colt 1911 Series 80 wouldn't extract fired cases. Apparently the extractor is too loose. I'll have to work on it tomorrow. My CZ75 was the accuracy champ of the pieces I took for handguns (Colt 1911, Officer's model .45, CZ75) shooting my lead 124 gr 9mm handloads. I moved to the covered rifle line and sighted in a .308 with a new Leopold 1.5x4 compact scope. Great reticle and clear as a bell. Had fun shooting but I felt all limp like a wet wash cloth by the time I was done and driving home.

Shot an NRA practice match up a Camp Butner in preparation for the National Matches.

Toasty warm with 96 degree temperatures and some nasty switching winds that killed me at the 300 yard line. The range gods smiled upon me though with a wind lull at 600 yards, so I was able to bang out a bunch of 10s and X’s!

When to the range to play around with the 22 LR again at 200+ yards and the 308 out to 525. Did not think it was going to be that hot. Started with the 22 and dial what I thought was the right dope but did not see any splashes in the berm and the grass was about 2' high. Might have shot 30 rounds and gave up. Switched over to the 308 and from 300 to 525, no problem. Could not leave without trying the 22 again and after 15 rounds I decided to head back to the 100 yard range and re-zero. Started out out 50 and then moved to 100. The wind was blowing (had to stake down the target stand to keep it from falling over). Even staked, it was moving up to 1.5". Got a decent group with Federal ammo. I stunk (smelled) and was soaked too much to shoot anymore. Glad I brought an extra shirt. BTW, the temp read 102 and got down to 98.

Oh, and Billy's Model 10 above, it was the one that he got from this forum a few days ago. This one:

Another great, albeit smoking hot, day @Panteao Sportsman's Club with my 8 year old son. He's getting to be a pretty great shot, loves shooting steel, and now loads his own mags so I am one happy and proud Dad! Although the "I bought an electric guitar and amp with my own money" hair style needs to get trimmed up stat

Seriously LOVE these range days with my boy. I know life breaks for no one but I sure wish I could slow it down a gear or two.

Went and shot a bunch of stuff including some 9mm loads that I loaded which @BatteryOaksBilly suggested. They were great. Thanks again Billy.

On another note. Ended up with a very mild case of Heat Exhaustion/Heat Stroke. Got home from the range and ended up curled up on the couch with a blanket. You would never know that I am outside everyday from about 8 to 11am this time of year. Had plenty of H2O also. Probably should of drank my juice that I always bring with me. Did not realize anything was wrong until I was about 15 minutes from the house. (1.5 hour drive).

Be careful out there people.

Yes I did and was 80 degrees at oh 800 hrs. Drank a qt of Gatorade zero in 3 hrs. Got 6BR shooting bugholes again. Fellers, if u shoot a lot and want to shoot bugholes all the time, you have to use a brush on your bores, eventually.

Yea. For some damn reason I did not drink my juice. I normally do before I leave the range, I have my lunch and my juice. Oh well just another dumb thing to add to my list.

I did. I shot the 1911 .45 (100 rounds) and the G19 (200 rounds)....so now I need to order more 9mm (again), because I had to buy some at the range.
PS Massive fans are being added in the range....at least the air is moving more!

A couple boxes of 38 sp thru the 66-1. Sweat dripping in my eyes was the perfect excuse for my performance. o_O

Llama .380 off the back deck and right back inside. Suppose to go to The Cirque de Soleil at 7:30 on Murder Beach. If it ain't Heavily ACd it'll be the Cirque de So Long!!!!!
Isn’t the real Cirque visible out on the streets?
