KK Goodness

Damnit...... cravings lol

I grew up in Clemmons just outside of Winston-Salem.
In the late 60's cruising Stafford Road there was a KK, no Hot and Ready sign back then, but you could see if the line was running.
We would stop and get coffee and donuts straight off the line and go into a sugar comatose right in the store.
Damn those things are good off the line.

@BatteryOaksBilly 's cousin, Jerry, stopped at a KK when the Hot and Ready light was on. He told the girl working there that he wanted a dozen of the glazed donuts but he wanted her to run them back through the glaze a second time. He had a hard time making her understand what he wanted but she finally got it. He said there was about a half inch of glaze in the bottom of the box.

Now why would a perfectly nice person show me the donuts??? I'm on a diet here!

Not
nice.....but they sure do look tasty.....lol....I can't even remember the last time I had a donut!

I refuse to even search for the closest one to me.

No problem.
This should get you started.

You wanna see a Duncan Donut shop fold up quicker than a cheap lawn chair..open up a KK down the street.
I wish I could believe that, but the Dunkin and KK are about 200 yards apart here and both do great business.

Please read the following as Bernie Sanders.

"The title of this thread must be Changed! It is only one K away from trouble.

Fried white bread ain't bad but I prefer the Double-D cake style. That KK sugar glaze has exactly one flavor and it'd taste the same if you just ate the box.

We were in a KK watching the line run. They were letting "not so perfect" donuts fall off the end of the conveyor into a trash can. I was standing there with my nose pressed against the glass and a little drool running out of the corner of my mouth when one of the employees noticed me. I saw another imperfect donut heading for the trash can and started pointing at it and then at myself. I did this a couple times and she got the message. She caught it right as it was about to go over the edge and brought it over to me. I was able to save one meant for the dumpster. It tasted just as good if not better than the perfect examples.

I swear they should box those up as well and call them ugly donuts or something. Cut the cost by a buck. People would still scoop them up.

You watched Tom and Jerry back in the day, didn't you?

Was in N. Myrtle last week and the girls wanted donuts. Stopped in KK, picked out an assorted dozen then asked for a dozen glazed. Girl behind the counter said "Sorry, we don't have any glazed." WTF?! NO GLAZED DONUTS? Thought there was going to be a riot. Same store about six months ago had glazed and nothing else one morning. Must be me. I've also been to Burger King and been told they were out of burgers. Happened twice at two different stores in Greensboro.

I'm about 4 miles away from the Raleigh location. :)
I could stop in on my way to the office each afternoon and that would cut into my gun fund.

When they say they’re out of something, it means you caught them and they haven’t made them yet. They tried to tell me they were already out of biscuits one morning a few years ago at 6:15. They don’t open til 6. Sorry bastards just hadn’t opened early enough to make any

My wife is T2 diabetic so we asked for one plain, but the girl did not get it,
I asked her to get my wife a half dozen NAKED and she realized what we wanted.

it is a reality check to buy a dozen with no coupons !!!
remember years and pounds ago buying some on straford road... and almost running out of them on the way home in Davidson co.....

Had a Red Donut today (place not a color) north main street lexington... Boy was it (both of em) good... larger than KK, but still light...
Lighter than Fancy Pastry....
so much for A1c :(

I remember as a kid down at Myrtle Beach with the family getting KK donuts in the morning before hitting the beach. Good stuff.

I grabbed a couple of glazed KKs for breakfast last week, and on the receipt was a link to an online survey. Filling out the survey generated a code, which when written on the receipt makes it a buy one dozen, get one free coupon (glazed). So check your receipts!

Now this is where I must disagree, wait, what, me disagree, ok so thats for another discussion.
I think kk is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to donuts. DD is much better.
And the best are these asian shops opening up all over the place. At my age I don’t need to be eating a bunch of donuts but back in the day I was a connoisseur.

So is the one in downtown Raleigh gone?
It was a small factory with a store front.

We were in Charlotte recently I noticed the KK store and as I pulled into the lot the Hot & Ready sign turned on.
