I was looking through the consent agenda from yesterday’s commissioners meeting and saw this. Looks like they’re switching to G45’s for patrol and 43x’s for detectives and such. So another department going away from 40 s&w and to 9mm.

Will be interesting to see how much Craig’s sells the used Glocks for. Isn’t it interesting that they’re buying 185 guns but only turning in 150. You might say that deputies are buying 35 of their old guns...but the only time I was ever at Craig’s, there was a line out the door of LEOs buying back their turn-ins.

Never heard of th G45, but im not a glock guy. What did they have before that?

It's money taken from the people by the governm ent. Plenty of innocent folks lose their cash and goods to sketchy asset forfeiture.

It specifically says >Drug< forfeiture...not Asset. But whatever. Even if it was regular tax money, I wouldn’t care. I prefer it going to purchase firearms that will end up on the surplus market over about 99.9-% of the other crap .gov spends money on.

And a police officer would never flake anyone with narcotics....

which leads to them seizing legally held cash or a vehicle.

Which would never happen, because Thin Blue Line etc.

I didn’t plan on this thread needing to be in the basement. It was simply an informational thread. So let’s keep it clean please

Nah...we need to make it another “cops suck” thread apparently.

How is that post basement worthy?

Until you need one. ;)

Yeah and when you do they'll be at the end of a 45 minute response time only to tell you they can't get involved because they're more interested in going to lunch.

Because its going to turn into a cop bashing thread if you keep up your rhetoric.

I've used no foul language, made no personal attacks or anything else against the rules. Is not conforming to a particular opinion in the rules?

I am surprised they are getting that much for the trade in's being 40 cal. People are about having to give those away.
I know someone who would take them.

Its me. Looks like they are getting 275 for them i assume they will sell them for 350?

Did they shoot all the barrels out on the current guns? Just another example of wasting money regardless of where it comes from. That’s wish list item not a need. They could have bought some nice K9 dogs to chew those Thomasville criminal’s necks.

Why not just do a Barrel swap thingie
Well, they’re actually paying $139 for each new gun so maybe that’s more efficient than barrels and mags.

Unless you are an arrested drug dealer or criminal or can prove you were arrested falsely and had your property stolen, then you are not, in fact, purchasing these.
Well, as a significant contributor to the Davidson County tax-base, I guess I consider myself a shareholder. Therefore, I believe any assets held by the county partly belong to me, regardless of how acquired. ;)

If they "must" make a change, 17's and 26's would be cheaper as they could keep their holsters and such.

So, it’s even more awesome. Assets you own that were purchased with funds you didn’t contribute to. I dig it.

As pointed out later, they're only paying $140 for the gun swap. If you use one of the conversion barrels you still (should) swap out the ejector; the 40 and 9mm ejectors are different. The 40 will work with the 9mm for the most part, but ejection is weaker and it is not quite correct so for an actual "lives on the line" gun, it's probably not a good idea to not do that part. Now with barrels and ejectors and labor, you're over the cost of the trade-in-upgrade and you still need to go buy 9mm mags. Just not worth the investment when they get top dollar for trade-ins and cheap pricing on the new ones.

Wonder how long they were using the .40 and 9mm? Agree not worth the time to swap parts and then range test them.

Good for them, those are 2 excellent pistols. I own both of them and they are hands down my favorite pistols that I’ve ever owned. If I could only own 2 pistols, the 45 and 43X would be my choice.

And good Lord, some of y’all need to give it a rest with the whining about anything police related.....doesn’t it ever get exhausting being so butthurt about the police???
