Played around some with my hand loads and think maybe I’ve got it figured out...

4 consecutive 5 shot groups @ 100yards measured...

.526” / .55 MOA <——includes a called flyer
.457” / .48 MOA
.383” / .40 MOA
.278” / .29 MOA

I’m stoked to get this out of a stock, off the rack, rifle. Especially shot with bipod and bag vs. a mechanical rest.

Tikka T3X Tac A1
Atlas bipod
Precision underground rear bag
Burris XTR II 5-25x in a Spuhr mount.

Load
140gr Hornady ELD-M
Hornady 1-3x fired brass, full length sized
WLR primer
41.2gr RL-17

Before today, I used that same basic load with decent results, averaging around .750”. I had been emulating factory Hornady Match. That load with this bullet measures 2.200” base to ogive giving me nearly .090” jump in this rifle.

Using the same charge and dropping the jump to .020”, I gained nearly 70fps and cut my group size way down. Also went from an SD of ~15 down to 6 measured over 30 rounds.

To say I’m stoked is an understatement.

The best group of the day was from a different charge weight - 41.5gr. I only made up 5 of these though, could be an anomaly.

Nice shooting Tim!!!

Sometimes I think seating depth is more important than charge weight. Good to see you shooting handloads.
