The good people at Colorado State University want to help their students be more inclusive with their speech so they've put out this little guide to help them out. The first draft, which I can no longer find, also included the word "American" as a possibly offensive word and gave alternatives to use instead. Good to know that "food coma" and "long time no see" are somehow racist in nature and shouldn't be used as they may offend.
My daughter will be graduating high school in 4 years. Seeing this kind of nonsense makes me wonder if college is the best path for her or not.

We’ve come full circle, the homosexuals are queers again.

This is full of some seriously dumb stuff, I predict a standup bit in the near future. This would be great on SNL, if they only had the talent.

I have been in a few situations where someone always will say... that is not how it should be pronounced and I take offense. (They really don't, but it has become a habit with them to become the language police and not a contextual analyzer)

I apologize, and say well I surely didnt mean to offend you.

Then I say something like, If I meant to offend you, I would tell you that you should go get yourself screwed, because you really, really need it.

At the Dr office they have a bin of buttons to “choose your preferred pronoun”. I thought about putting one on and letting the hilarity ensue.

At the doctor’s office, my preferred pronoun is Dr.

Speaking of easily offended.

Group of 4 teens at a restaurant this afternoon, one male, three female, separate checks. A server from another section had a min and so was clearing the table. She noticed that one check had a big zero drawn through the tip line and the note “have a nice day.” Being a bit confused, but mostly irritated, she went to the door and asked the group that was still in the parking lot if one of them had intended to leave a cash tip because the note and no tip were contradictory. They all stood there looking stupid, so she went back inside. A few min later one girl came in and gave the waiter $5 and apologized for her friend. Of course the waiter knew which ticket went with which person, but the waitress had no idea. Anyway, everyone thought it was amusing and the end of the story.

10 min later one of the girls comes back into the restaurant crying and asks to speak to the manager. She proceeds to go off on the manager saying that the waitress was a racist for calling her out in the parking lot and that her father is a policeman and is going to come arrest the waitress for being a racist. Let’s say that she was neither calm nor soft-spoken. The waitress was standing there and responded with a hearty laugh in her face, the manager was amused but decided that discretion was warranted so looked stern and thanked her for bringing her concern to his attention.

I usually just get dinner, but I’m good with a little dinner theater from time to time.
