My wife is planning to use this group to care for her new pup.

Online reviews seem to be positive, at least as far as stars go, but I was curious if anyone here recommends using them or would warn against.

Thanks for any opinions or stories you don't mind sharing.

I live in Cabarrus Co. but we never used that one. It seems like a far piece to drive from SC :D

Yep..

It's a buck and a half from here. That should give you an idea what's available here, as far as trusted, quality care.

But, this is in her opinion. I don't have a dog in this fight.

:)

We used to use them until they pissed me off. I had taken my boxer in for an appointment and then left. Couple of hours later a Kannapolis cop shows up at my house out in the county. Said he wanted to look at my truck, which was in my closed garage. Said a car was parked illegally at the vets office and when the owner came out there was white paint on the car where someone had hit it. I was driving a white truck and some one told the office staff that there was a white truck with a boxer that had been in the lot. The office staff gave my private information to the car owner and the Kannapolis police who then came to my house out of his jurisdiction. I told him that my chrome bumper would not leave white paint on anything and unless he had a search warrant then he could leave. Never heard anything else of it, but I told the vets office that I would never come back because of it and I never have. That was 20 years ago.

Does SC recognize NC vaccinations? I know I've heard of issues with crossing state lines for rescue groups from Va to NC. I'm not sure but I think @J R Green was telling me that once.

Hell, you can't get Gaston Co to reconcile Cleveland Co or Lincoln Co rabies tags, I can only imagine state line mess. Best just to run animal control off at the head of he driveway.

Again, if you're willing to drive that far, Cherryville Animal Hospital is a good place. You don't have to make an appt, just get by during business hours. Brett is a good guy. When we had to put one of our little buddies down, he came out to the truck and actually administered the injection just so our buddy would get to pass on in at least a familiar place (the truck he loved to ride in) instead of a clinic table.

I mentioned this to her, but I'm not sure where the problem is with recognizing. Would it be a case of the home state fining you, although your animal has a tag from another?

Not the only game in town. They were able to correctly diagnose what was going on with our cat (other place said it was a hairball... NOT!)... they saved her life. That makes them my go-to place from now on.

Not sure what your dad's complaints are but I like them.

Ok. I'm not sure which place he goes to. I just know it's in Laurinburg and that he complains everytime. :D

It’ll get you if you ever have to evacuate and use a shelter (gotta show papers for the dog). Otherwise it’s none of anyone’s bidness.

We use Greenock Farm Family Vet in Cab. Co. After Sycamore Animal Clinic gave amputation of my girl’s leg as the only option for a weird squishy mass (followed by a biopsy and “likely” chemo that topped $5k), I wen to Greenock for a second opinion. Vet got to squeezing it when she was unconscious for an x-ray and out shot a 1/2 cup of blood/puss. Couple stitches and the cone of shame for a week, now my dog still has all 4 legs and a new vet! This after Sycamore told me “squeezing it could cause the tumor to rupture and kill her.” Careful there, @concepthomes1 .

Plus, going to a vet out of Meck County gets you under the radar of their stupid $10 pet tax.

Since were talking about vets, we use the downtown Davidson, NC one but would not recommend them. 8/10 for care & personnel but 5/10 for policies.

We’ll likely move the next time something happens that my wife doesn’t like. She drives that decision.
