Okay 2 "mass shootings", killing enough folks to make an OK month in Chicago, and here we go again with more gun control, more laws.
We need more Judicial Control, enforce the laws we have and punish the people that break them.
Last week in Murder Beach we had a robbery at a Bingo Parlor where the owners, a father and son were shot and killed. They caught the killer. The killer had been arrested for Assault and battery with intent to kill, and felon in possession of a firearm(for the 3rd time) back in 2011. In 2012 he was sentenced to 10yrs in prison, guess what??? The asshat judge suspended the sentence, he should have been in prison until 2022, but no let's let him out AGAIN. While out on his suspended sentence he gets arrested again for 4 counts of attempted murder and Felon in possession of a firearm(for the 4th time). With his record, what do they do??? Let him out on bond so he can get a gun illegally again and murder 2 people.
Yet the people think more background checks and more laws will stop the violence. No, enforce what we have, lock these animals up and keep them locked up.
If I was the family of these people murdered I would go out and find me the biggest, loudmouth, shyster Lawyer and go after the Judges and the system that kept this guy on the streets. And fight that fight all over the media.

Your exactly what it’s what we been echoing for years enforce existing laws we don’t need more.

This legislative and judicial systems in this country are effed.

Gun ownership makes you racist now according to Booker after the POTUS speech this morning.

“The president is weak. And wrong. White supremacy is not a mental illness, and guns are a tool that white supremacists use to fulfill their hate," Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., tweeted.

They will try to take them in the name of fighting white supremacy.

I agree with you except for one thing. And that is your statement of lock them up and keep them locked up. If they are so bad, I don't want my tax dollars supporting them for the rest of their lives, execute them and the problem will be solved.

That's exactly what me and my wife have been saying... " Why are the judges and D.A.s not held accountable, when someone with a violent history is cut loose too early, and reeks havoc on people?" I will say this though, why is it, that someone with a criminal past, is the "go to" for the fix? A lot of mass shootings are committed by people with no criminal history as well. A whole slew of killings in America, are just senseless also. There's people from all walks of life, who just woke up one day, and snapped.

Does anybody have the statistics of the percentage of mass shooters (not the low number of the gun control folks, but true mass shootings) are felons. Based on my recollection of events, they are low or non-exsistant. The only ones that should not have been able to purchase a weapon were the Charleston church shooter and the Texas church shooting where the air force failed to record a conviction.

I hate to say it, but I think red flag laws are going to be passed and signed into law. On the surface, it makes the gun community seem extreme to oppose them because "who in their right mind would not want a gun taken away from a crazed individual." I believe that the best we can hope for is to protections built into these laws to protect the gun owner. Just some of my ideas:

1) Require that government provide or reimburse attorneys fees it eh confiscation is determined to be without cause. I think that since it is a civil procedure and not a criminal one, an attorney cannot be appointed by the court to represent the gun owner. This definitley infringes on the RTKBA of the low income citizen.
2) Some type of criminal and/or civil penalty for the person making the report that leads to confiscation if that report is found to be without merit and done with malice in mind (ie a wife in a divorce proceeding falsely reporting her husband.
3) Expidited proceedings in these cases so civil rights can be restored to those people whose weapons were confiscated in a timely manner.

Lets discuss this, because I think these are coming and while we should resist them we need to provide our legislateurs with ways to make them more pallitable.

From Radly Balko's book Rise of the warrior cop.
"EARLY IN THE MORNING OF AUGUST 11,
1966, CHARLES Whitman—an Eagle
Scout, an ex-Marine, and a former altar
boy—went to his mother’s apartment
and shot her in the back of the head. He
then returned to his own apartment and
stabbed his wife to death. He left a note
in which he explained that because he
loved the two women, he had no choice
but to kill them. He wanted to spare them
the embarrassment of what was to
come."
It goes on to say that he wanted his brain studied, and later it was discovered that he had a medical condition...a tumor. Which is believed to have caused him to snap. It's a good read, very interesting.

I believe there may be a combination of nature (illness) and nurture (conditioning of society to only value one's self and overall devaluation of human life) or each item individually that is largely to blame.

We continue to see society as a whole focus on how important they can attempt to make a single individual and that all focus is driven inward, while greatly diminishing the value of others around them. We don't need more laws, we need a culture change. Unfortunately, you won't see anyone step up and state that for fear of being labelled a racist. When cultures assimilate, the overall wellbeing of the nation will be vastly improved.

That's very interesting, "a culture change". One could say it's the culture change that's responsible for this, ie. removing God from our society, taking of ones God givin rights, violent movies, tv, music, and yes, the devaluation of human life.

The ship has sailed. Even if they pass anything, you can 3D print lowers, Glock frames, AR and Glock magazines and there's already 300+ million. The signal can't be stopped.

I do think one thing here. WE, as 2A lovers, supporters, etc., have to stand up and NOW. While going through my "stock" last night, I had MAC on the tube. And an interesting point came up that could not have been any more true. As much as I am sick of the anti-2A BS, and am ready to physically fight for it, we can't until every diplomatic effort is made to change the course of it. Calling, e-mailing and a physical letter written and sent to the local, state and federal powers to be expressing your stance and view has been exhausted to the extreme. And then, EVERY 2A supporter SHOULD show up for a gathering in non-violent protest in D.C. If a date is set up, let's say 6 months for now, I can see no reason why not to have the bus, train, plane, rental car, or gas money to show up on that day. There should be 10 million+ people there.

I know this may not play well here. But we need to look at the mental health side, particularly involuntary treatment. That went away with Reagan. I think we need to re think that plan. Mental health checks off a lot of the popular current talking points; gun control, drug abuse, and homelessness. All 3 are heavily populated by people with mental health issues. We talk about locking up the nuts but we have to accept a few idea. First, it's no longer that easy. Mainly bed space. Second, it's going to be expensive and Govco will be neck deep in it. And lets be honest, before these people commit serious crimes jail is not the answer, and apparently being free in society isn't either. But the middle ground has been removed.

Culture has driven us away from face-to-face contact. We get our information and opinions from electronic sources of our choosing, and those tend to align with our preconceptions. We don't value human life because we are only required to be exposed to it when we shop (and for many items not even then) or when we work (again, more and more jobs also being done remotely).

People in the gun community tend to buck that trend a little because we have limited public venues to shoot, and shooting is expensive.

We need mandatory bowling leagues.

I agree. To continue that line, it's hard to see how some of today's youth can value life when they play video games all day that kill hundreds of people. Combine that with movies that do the same thing. Count the dead in Kill Bill and John Wick. It has to have an affect at some point on somebody.
