Moving some flowerbed pavers and found 2 of these. Only took pictures of the first. Both were between 14-16” long. The first one was extremely pissed and was trying to bite everything. The first also had just started peeling.

If it was shedding that is why. They can't see then and they just strike at any movement. A least that is what I have been told.
I'll take @Burt Gummer on his word about what that one is...but I know exactly what this one is. I also know it will never need to shed its skin again
